Today we're getting real and we're talking about deciding to take control of your business.
I'm going to admit something.
Sometimes my business doesn't do what I want it to do and when that happens, I know exactly why it happens.
It's because a few thoughts come up.
I could list off a whole lot of other thoughts but let me be super clear – none of these thoughts are true.
So when I decide to take control of my business and put my big girl pants on things start to change and that's what I want to inspire and encourage you to do.
Decide to take control instead of feeling helpless.
Decide that you HAVE control and that you are the one who can influence and control what happens in your business.

Suz Chadwick [00:00:28]:
I've got a little bit of a husky voice today just for you. I was actually at Tony Robbins for 4 days last week, screaming and shouting and having the time of my life, and it was a life changing experience. If you ever get the chance to go to unleash the power within or really probably any of his seminars, as he calls them, so worthwhile. I knew that I needed a jolt, and I think that today's topic is perfect and in line with this as well. I knew I needed a job. I needed I needed to interrupt the pattern, which is what he talks about as well. Sometimes we get into patterns, And they become really can it can be a problem. It's like something you get so used to that you don't actually realize is holding you back because it's just like what you do all the time.
Suz Chadwick [00:01:21]:
So I'm not gonna dive into that today. Marion Piper, Who is an incredible speaker and writer, who I've had on the podcast before. Her and I went to Tony Robbins last week, And she is going to come on the podcast, and we're gonna do a big debrief and slides, fireside chat, which you know I love. And so I'm gonna keep it for when we do that. So so watch this space. But today, what I wanted to talk about is how you can decide to take control of your business. Instead of feeling like you don't have control, you don't know what to do, And all the rest of it, we're gonna dive in today, and we are gonna, like, grab the ball by the horns. Obviously, we're not hurting it.
Suz Chadwick [00:02:07]:
Grab the ball by the horns, and we're gonna take control of our business. So that is what we're doing today. I'm excited for you to join me on today's episode, and let me know, Like, what you take away from it. But listen, before we dive in, I wanna let you know that you can come and join me at a live masterclass that I will be running on the 9th 12th October, all about how to build a bold brand and powerful message to magnetize your audience. So if you are wanting to build a powerful message and a brand that stands out, this masterclass is for you. It is brand new content.
Suz Chadwick [00:03:01]:

So come and join me. Grab your spot now, and I cannot wait to see you then. But listen.
Suz Chadwick [00:03:28]:
Let's dive into this week's episode. So let's Talk about deciding to take control. Why did I wanna talk about this particular topic? Because I hear from clients and my community a lot of the time. It's actually one of the things that I hear a lot when I do the post BBA interviews with clients as to Why did you decide to join, or what was the problem you were really experiencing? And a lot of times, clients feel like they just don't have control. Like, Them being able to grow their business, that control is out of their hands. And if you have that thought, That's what we're talking about today. We're talking about thoughts that are making you feel like you're not in control and how we're gonna flip them. So first of all, I'm gonna admit something.
Suz Chadwick [00:04:18]:
I'm gonna admit something, but sometimes my business doesn't do what I want it to do. Damn it. And when that happens, I know exactly why it happens. It's because I might have thoughts like It could be, you know, I don't know what to do next, or that's just really hard. It feels really hard, or nothing is working, or I don't know what to say. So it's not just my clients that say that I also have those thoughts. I feel like we all have those thoughts. But it's just about How quickly you can turn it around and make sure that you are taking control of it so that it doesn't control you.
Suz Chadwick [00:04:56]:
When you wanna Take control of your business. I think one of the first things to do is get super clear on what it is you are wanting the outcome to be. So don't always think about the how. Like, how am I gonna do it? How am I gonna do it? Ask yourself, what is the outcome that I want? What is the end goal? For example, let's Say, with my masterclass, I wanna have 300 people or more that join the masterclass. So what are all the things that I can do and telling myself I know exactly what to do? I know what to do. I know how to do it. I'm gonna plan out all of the content that I'm gonna share, where I'm gonna share it. I'm also gonna have the mindset that this is gonna be amazing, that I can commit to doing this particular task like promoting, marketing, the master class.
Suz Chadwick [00:05:46]:
So I'm gonna go I'm gonna talk about it on LinkedIn. Gonna email my list. I'm gonna put it on Instagram. I'm gonna talk about it on Facebook. I'm gonna talk about it on the podcast. Yeah. I'm gonna get my network to share it for me And help me to attract more of the people that I want. I'm gonna run ads for it.
Suz Chadwick [00:06:01]:
So I know that there are so many ways that I can do it, but the question is, Am I gonna do it? So sometimes we think that we either don't know what to do, but then when we do know what to do, It's then moving us into action of, what am I planning? How am I gonna do this so that I can execute well On the plan that I have, when you take control, it's not just about the knowing, but it's about the doing. It's about assessing what's working so that you can change things up if you need to, and you're not feeling like, oh, I did that thing and it didn't work, so nothing works. That's not taking control. Taking control is doing whatever it takes to get the outcome that you want and continuing to Try new things. Do different things. When you decide to take control, you also have decided that you are the expert in your business, that you know your message inside out. And, you know, this is one of the reasons why I wanted to run the masterclass as well was to go so much deeper into this is because The reason that you're not showing up online is because you are not telling yourself that you know exactly what to say, that you know that you can connect with your audience, that you understand your clients' problems, and so that is what you can be talking about to really help them to be able to move through it, whatever that might be. Really think about, are you constantly replaying Those positive messages in your own mind.
Suz Chadwick [00:07:35]:
I know how to communicate my value to my audience. I know that my product and service is So good and can help my client to get the result. When you take control, you are also controlling the thoughts, The emotions, the actions, the execution of what it is that you're doing. And so start to look at What your day looks like? What are the things that you're doing? Who are you hanging out with? Are they helping you to know that you can do this? I think I shared before that I'm in a, like, Facebook chat group. And sometimes the Amazing peeps that I'm in that with, they are talking about funnels, and they're talking about, you know, the launches, and they're talking about clients that are coming in and all the rest of it. And just being in that group, I just keep telling myself, I know this. Like, I know how to do this. I can do that too.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:32]:
Like, When you're around other people who are doing the do, who are being proof of success, are being proof of taking action, of testing, and trying new things, then you will also move into, I can do that too. I should test that out. I can make that happen. So really thinking about how you wanna take control and who's around you that's helping you to take control, And, also, what are the beliefs that you are embedding in yourself on a daily basis? So this morning, I sat and I wrote down and I did this with my BBA clients as well. I sat and I wrote down my to do list and then to believe list. I love this. Yeah? So for example, to do is, like, to set up some of the masterclass stuff, to share it, to create some promos, to do the ads, etcetera. And one of the big things is to revise my emails, like All of my launch emails.
Suz Chadwick [00:09:34]:
Now I have to be honest with you. A common thought that I have is I hate revising my launch emails. Don't tell anybody I told you that. I hate revising my launch emails because I wanna make them more Exciting and interesting, and I find that really hard to do. Can you see how these thoughts creep in? So when I wrote down emails, I also wrote down, I know exactly what to say. I'm gonna make this so fun. These are gonna be super engaging. My subscribers are gonna love them.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:05]:
So I had to write down what I'm gonna believe in order to override the automatic thoughts that I have about creating those emails. And, also, the other thought that I'm having is I can take control of this. I am in control of this. I can make this what I want it to be. I can make this do what I want it to do. I know how to communicate my value. I know how to communicate what it is that I wanna communicate here for this particular product or service. I know how to engage my audience.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:38]:
Like, writing that down is very different to just kind of thinking about it. So you might be like, okay. I'm gonna have positive thoughts. But the question is, how are you embedding those positive thoughts? So this is what I have to do. This is what I'm gonna believe. I'm gonna write it down. And as I'm writing it down, other things come to mind as well. So I might write down that I know how to do this.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:58]:
I'm in control of this, and then it starts flowing. I could totally make this fun. I could tell really great stories. So as I'm writing, I'm then, like, having more Thoughts that are like yes yes thoughts. Yes. I can make that happen. Yes. I could do this.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:14]:
Yes. I could explore that or try this different way of doing it. So when you sometimes feel like, but I've tried everything or, you know, I've tried a lot of things, You've gotta sit down and and write down all the things that you've tried and then start brainstorming all the things you haven't tried yet. What are the things that you've not done well? What are the things that you could do better. What other ideas have you gotten from other people? So Amy Porterfield, who I love, has just gone through a launch. And I love seeing all the different ideas because she's got a whole team. This is the other thing. She's got a whole team of people coming up with ideas for her.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:52]:
So I just, like, fast track that, and I watch some of the stuff that she does. And I'm like, that's such an awesome idea. I'm gonna do some of that with my ads, with my reels, like doing lives, things like that. So also take a look at people who inspire you, look at people who are doing things that you might wanna do more of. And just be like, what ideas can I get from that, and how can I potentially be implementing that when it comes to me marketing my business, etcetera, and also asking the question, when I look at somebody and I think that they're in control of their business, What actions are they taking? One thing that I did love, that Tony Robbins said, it's like it's like I'm trying not to share with you so that I can share in the recap with I'm like, one of the things I really loved is don't ask how, ask who. So instead of Trying to figure it all out on your own, who can you model? Who can you learn from when it comes to what it is you wanna learn And fast track that knowledge and that experience. And so, you know, when I think about videos, I love watching Diary the CEO for podcast videos. Obviously, I'm not in a studio.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:06]:
I don't have a team. I'm not interviewing somebody in that way, But I but I'm like, that would be so fun to be able to do. But what other things could I learn from that when it comes to the social videos, etcetera? What else could I learn when it comes to promoting the podcast more? Who do I wanna learn from? So I want you to think about you know, if you're somebody that listens to this podcast all the time and you're like, Suze, what you talk about totally resonates for me, and, yes, I wanna take control, then you might wanna be like, okay. I'm gonna learn from Suze and join BBA in the next live round, which starts on the 16th October because I know that she can teach me how to shortcut My way to being more in control of my business, being more in control of my mindset, being surrounded by other people who are being bold, doing bigger things, taking risks, and knowing exactly what they're going after. So decide on who your who is. And like I said before, there are different people who I love to learn from, who are great at doing their particular thing. So when you decide to take control, that's another area to take control in. It's not about maybe following loads and loads of people, But it's saying, for this, I'm going to model or follow that person.
Suz Chadwick [00:14:27]:
For that particular thing, I'm going to model or follow that particular person. And when you do that, it just means that you're so laser focused on what it is you wanna do, What you wanna learn, what it is about that person or that thing that has really appealed to you, and then just zone in on it. Like, don't be so unfocused and constantly I just feel it's really hectic energy, hectic energy about, Let me go see what this person and that person and this person and that person's doing. Like, laser focus in on people. Decide on who your mentors will be, both online and offline. Decide on why that person's gonna be your mentor, what you wanna learn from them, and then go all in on that. When you take control, I think you go all in. You go all in on yourself.
Suz Chadwick [00:15:22]:
You go all in on being laser focused. You go all in on The specific outcome that you want, and you are crystal clear on it. That clarity is so important. One of the things that we're gonna be diving a lot deeper into in BBA this round as well because I'm always making it better. I'm always, like, sharing what I'm learning as well, which is what I'm really focusing on is the CSM model, which is around clarity and certainty, your strategies, and your mindset. And so knowing exactly what You're going after in a super tangible way, having strategies that work for you because we don't do cookie cutter approach. We take a look at what works for each person depending on their business and business model and then the mindset. And I Feel like we talk it's a whole thing of we talk about mindset a lot.
Suz Chadwick [00:16:16]:
And so I feel like people become a bit maybe not immune, but It just doesn't have the same impact maybe that it used to have, but it is the most important thing. Like, even everything that I'm talking about today when it comes to deciding to take Control is a mindset. Like, you're deciding. You are making a decision that you are not going to be floundering anymore, that you are not going to be in indecision anymore, that you are not going to be like, I just don't know what to do anymore. So when you decide, then you are coming to it with certainty, where you're like, I know exactly what to do. I know how this is gonna work. And it right now, if I don't know this particular thing, I'm gonna laser focus in on just learning, working out that one thing. And I'm not gonna spend, like, months or weeks or whatever trying to figure it out.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:11]:
I'm just gonna go. I'm gonna learn that thing, And then I'm gonna implement it, test it, learn in the process, and, like, keep getting better. For a lot of you, you may have been listening to this us maybe for a long time. I have been in business now. It's 8 years this year, which is crazy. It's crazy. And a lot of my clients have been with me for that period of time. We've kind of grown our businesses together.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:36]:
If you have been around for a long time, you don't wanna be staying In the, you know, faffing feeling of not knowing, think about what are the areas of your business that you feel a little bit shaky in, and what could you do right now to decide to take control? So if you're like and I'm thinking of one of my beautiful clients. If you're like, I just never know what to market, then you sit down and you work out your products and services, and you create a marketing plan around it. I always say to clients, I've got my 12 month calendar. I take a look at when we're launching. I take a look at when we're doing retreats. I take a look at what the products and services are, and I think about when do I want to launch, when do I wanna promote. I might be doing back end promotions, like, on a regular basis, but what am I doing? We talk about memos as well in BBA, which is monthly energized marketing offers. And so when we continue to tell ourselves, I don't know what to market, then we will continue to stay in the faff and in the indecision because we've not made the decision to take control.
Suz Chadwick [00:18:41]:
But when you're like, I know what I need to do and just decide this month, I'm gonna be marketing this particular product or service. How are you gonna be marketing it? I'm gonna be marketing it a number of ways. I'm gonna be talking about it in a live. I'm gonna create some social posts. I'm gonna email my list about it, and I'm gonna measure, like, how many people came to the sales page, And did we have conversions? How many conversions did we have? Did we spend any marketing dollars on it? So being in control means that you've decided What it is you need to do, and then how you're gonna do it, and then you're gonna measure it. Once again, it comes back to the simple business buckets, you know, that Every month, every week, you're like, what am I doing to build my brand? What am I doing to get new eyeballs on what it is that I do? What am I doing to make the offer? What am I doing around my mindset? What am I doing around the admin and back end of my business? And really focusing on how you are growing, not only yourself, but your business and your team so that you're not continuing to do all of the things. One of the things that I did have a realization on last week is that I don't actually love being on social. So I love being in stories, and that's about it.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:00]:
Look. I love I love connecting in stories. I love having a chat in stories, but that's about it. I don't enjoy, like, being in the feed. I don't really, Like, I don't consume reels, things like that. But what I do love to do is I love to create content. So I I love to speak, And I love to podcast, which is why I'm recording the video of this. And I'm really that's one thing that I wanna take control of is When I record the podcast, I'm recording the video as well.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:29]:
So what I would love to do is actually have, like, a social media person where I'm just creating Content and doing some stories, and then they're, like, putting everything else out there. So that's, Like a big goal of mine. It was really interesting. I'm like, maybe I just need, like, a content manager or something like that, who can do some video editing. But I but the realization was I actually don't wanna be in the feed on socials. And so how can I do what I love? Where can I be in flow in order for me to take control of this part of the business where I can just be doing that, and then somebody else is, like, putting it out there for me on the daily, which would be amazing? So when you decide to take control of certain areas, and the simple thing to do is go, how am I taking control of building my brand? How am I taking control of marketing my business? How am I taking control of the sales aspect? What am I doing to take control of sales? What am I doing to take control of the back end and the operations of my business? Do I have a team? Am I building a team? Do I have a goal for a team? If you're not quite there yet. Who do you wanna have? What would it look like? And also being like, I don't know what I would give them. Write down everything that you do when it comes to your business, and then think about what am I in flow? What do I wanna be doing? What what am I the only person that can do? And then how can you outsource everything else? And then what am I doing to take control of my mindset? On the daily, what am I doing That can really help me to show up, feel in control, be in control, have the mindset of somebody who's in control so that I can achieve the things that I want, so that I can grow the business that I want, so that I can have the time and the space that I want, and know what you're going after.
Suz Chadwick [00:22:25]:
That clarity around your purpose and your goals and the outcomes that you want is So critical, which is why we're gonna be diving deeper into that within BBA this live round because I'm just like, We gotta nail that. We gotta get clear, yeah, so that we can know exactly what we're going after and what we're gonna be in control of and what the comes out that we want. Because my voice is not amazing today, that is where we're gonna leave it. But I really want you to think about what is working and what is not working. And for the things that are not working, how are you gonna decide? And it is a decision, and it takes that grit, tenacity, that focus that you are going to get this under control. I just really want you to feel that in your body. Yeah. I am gonna take control of this.
Suz Chadwick [00:23:21]:
I am not going to be at the mercy of the market. I'm not gonna be at the mercy of my indecision and my and my mindset. I am gonna take control of this. I get to determine what my business does, how I show up, who I connect with, what I do, And I will be in control of my results. Do you feel it? Can you feel it? I want you to feel it. Yeah. I want you to say that back to yourself. I am in control.
Suz Chadwick [00:23:53]:
I determine the results I get. If you enjoyed this episode, I would love you to leave a review or share it with a friend. Make sure you come and join us in the live master class This October, suezchadwick.comforward/livemasterclass, all one word, and I will see you
