In today's episode, I'm chatting with bright-haired business powerhouse Sheridan Rose Shaw of MamaWest.

At 10 years of hairdressing, she was ready for change and left her job to become a Personal Trainer. The thing that she didn't see coming, is that when she left the hairdresser she was working at, all of her clients followed. She was expecting maybe 3 clients to come but all of them connect on her socials and she quickly opened up her home and bathroom to start her own business.

After spending $5k on this PT Course, Sheridan decided that her heart was with her clients and hairdressing. She admits that it's still the best $5k she ever spent because it got her out of a job she didn't want to be in and pushed her to see that she could do it her own way.

When she joined BBA, she was 4 years deep into her backyard business and has needed to expand twice from her original small apartment bathroom. She started looking for commercial premises and almost had one locked but she knew she wanted to break away from the hairdressing mould & thought someone with a different background would have a point of difference. It worked.

Now with a coworking and collaborative space for women, Sheridan runs MamaWest space for women to be pampered, connect and grow together. MamaWest puts a new spin on the neighbourhood salon – because life’s too short for sh!T hair!
