It's here to stay and for any small business owner and anyone looking to build their personal brand now and in the future, it's time to step into the AI game.

If you're on a mission to amp up your personal brand but find yourself tangled in the endless to-dos, guess what? AI might just be your new BFF. In today’s digital age, standing out in a sea of sameness is crucial and who better to guide you through the ins and outs than me!? I'm not an expert, but I am an enthusiast who is constantly in awe of how AI helps me take my own content and spin it in a million different ways.

And to be honest, if AI can help me build my personal brand and get more eyeballs on my website, thinking, ideas and content then – why the hell not?

I was recently asked to share my thoughts on AI and Personal Branding in CEO Magazine and since then I've been diving in deep. I recently delivered a masterclass for my Amplify Mastermind clients on how AI can help you double your content and half your effort.

Drawing insights from the brand-building frontline, CEO Magazine, and my treasure trove of content, let’s dive into how AI can revolutionise the way you stand out online.

Understanding the AI Hype

First things first, when we talk about AI in personal branding, what do we mean? Imagine having a super-smart assistant that knows your brand inside out and helps you create content that resonates with your audience. Sounds dreamy, right? According to a survey by HubSpot, 63% of businesses reported that AI has the potential to significantly change their marketing strategies for the better. That’s huge!

And let's be honest, it's worth the hype. Over the last few weeks, we've been feeding our AI new BFF with content that I've been creating over the last 10 years. Yep, you heard me right…10 years' worth of content. Transcripts from podcasts, webinars, masterclasses, interviews and blogs are all getting used, drawn from and repurposed in a bigger way. I'm a big one for talking about squeezing everything out of what you create and that we need to say things at least 10 times (or more) before our audience actually hears what we're saying.

Crafting Your Unique Voice with AI

One of the biggest challenges in personal branding is maintaining consistency while also staying original. Here’s where AI can really help you sound….well, just like you! Tools powered by AI can help analyse your tone and style to ensure your brand’s voice is distinct and authentically you. But remember, it’s a partnership. Inject your personality, quirks, and all, into the content AI helps you craft. After all, it’s those human touches that transform good content into great, unforgettable brand stories.

The way I use AI and my content is to set up your brand voice before you get started. If you're inputting your own transcripts then ensure that the tone of voice and the language you use is kept in the copy. By using your tone of voice and your own copy and then getting AI to repurpose, cut, dice and slice it up and put it back together in different ways is just smart working. The other BIG TIP is understanding that AI will get you 80% of the way there and then you need to proofread, copyedit and tweak to ensure it does sound like you. Don't get lazy friend!

Beyond Content: How AI Can Strengthening Your Brand

But wait, there’s more! AI doesn't stop at just churning out content. It’s like the Swiss Army knife in your branding toolbox. From optimising your social media strategy to personalising your emails, AI technology can provide data-driven insights that tailor your brand messaging to sing directly to your ideal audience’s heart.

Just like you add your brand voice to your bot, you can also clearly identify your dream client. Telling your new AI BFF who you're speaking to, what they desire, what their pain points are, what stage of business they are at and anything else you know about your client, not only means that you're speaking in your unique tone of voice but you're speaking directly the person you want to work with.

Safety First: Ensuring Originality and Authenticity

Now, for the elephant in the room: how do you make sure your AI-assisted content doesn’t end up sounding like a robot wrote it or, worse, like everyone else’s? The key is customisation. Use AI as a starting point, then layer on your unique perspective, expertise, and personal anecdotes. And always, always credit your sources and inspiration – it’s good karma!

Another quick note on safety and liability…I know…we're getting serious, a story recently broke about Air Canada having to pay a passenger for information that its website chatbot provided during an online exchange. In a nutshell, Air Canada's chatbot misinterpreted the company's policy on refunding a customer who had a bereavement and needed to travel quickly. The customer asked if they could get a refund and the chatbot said – Sure you can! When the customer went to claim, the airline said they weren't eligible. The case went to court and whilst the company said that the chatbot was independent the judge disagreed and ordered them to pay the refund and legal costs. (check out the story details here)

So while AI can be your new BFF, just like I wouldn't leave my fridge open with my dog Beau around, don't leave your AI unsupported otherwise, you never know what you'll lose from the fridge (so to speak!)

Embracing AI: Your Action Plan

Ready to take the plunge but not sure where to start? Here are a couple of pointers:

  • Experiment with different tools: There’s a plethora of AI tools out there. Find the one that fits your style and needs. I personally like Magai.ai which is what I'm using on the regular!
  • Focus on your audience: Use AI to gain insights into what your audience loves and how you can serve them better. You can ask any question that comes to mind and just keep digging to find out more about the people you want to serve & help.
  • Keep learning: AI is evolving. Stay curious and keep updating your knowledge to leverage the latest and greatest. Just try it out. The only way you'll learn is by doing, so start with some of the free sites and play around. The more you use it, the better you'll get.

In conclusion, integrating AI into building your personal brand isn’t just smart; it’s essential for standing out in today’s fast-paced and crowded market. BUT and there's a big BUT here – it's the people that use it along with their own expertise and knowledge that will win in the end.

I was chatting with an SEO copywriter the other day who mentioned that Google will downgrade content that they can see has been written by AI without unique insights and perspectives. So you've been warned. If you're worried about people using it without any thought into what they are creating, AI can be your best friend and it can be your downfall. So be smart about how you use it!

Now is the time to enjoy your new AI BFF and use it to help you build your personal brand. With a blend of AI efficiency and your unique spicy flair, you’re not just building a brand; you’re on your way to dominating your space with more of your great thought leadership and original perspective.

Remember, it’s not about replacing the irreplaceable – YOU. It’s about supercharging your brilliance and making sure the world sees it, loud and clear. Happy AI Personal branding, lovelies!
