Before someone trusts you enough to work with you, they need 7 hours of engagement with your content, across 11 different touchpoints, in 4 separate locations.

Google discovered this. And once I understood it, everything about personal branding suddenly made sense.

7 Hours of Engagement 

Think about this – someone needs to spend 7 HOURS with your ideas before they're ready to invest in you. Not 7 minutes. Not even 70 minutes. Seven – Hours.

Ask yourself right now: Do you have 7 hours worth of valuable content that showcases your expertise, personality, and unique perspective?

Most people don't. And that's exactly why most personal brands fail to convert followers into clients.

Here's my favorite hack: Start a podcast or video series.

Yes, it feels scary. Yes, it takes work. But it's the fastest way to create deep, meaningful content that people actually want to binge. Plus, you can slice and dice that content into 50+ pieces for social media. Work smarter, not harder.

11 Touchpoints 

Nobody's going to sit down and consume 7 hours of your content in one go (unless you're Netflix, and last I checked, you're not).

This means you need to show up consistently in their world. Think of it as leaving breadcrumbs everywhere:

  • Your LinkedIn posts
  • Email newsletter
  • Instagram stories
  • YouTube videos
  • Blog articles
  • Podcast episodes
  • Twitter threads
  • Workshop recordings
  • Free resources
  • DMs and comments
  • Live streams

Each touchpoint is a chance to deepen the relationship. Miss this, and you're leaving money (and impact) on the table.

4 Separate Locations 

This is where most personal brands drop the ball. You can't just be the “LinkedIn guy” or the “Instagram girl.” Your audience wants to experience different facets of who you are across different platforms.

Why? Because seeing you in multiple contexts builds trust faster. It's like the difference between knowing someone only from work versus knowing them from work, the gym, and social gatherings. The multi-dimensional view creates real connection.

Here's why this rule will make or break your personal brand:

This isn't some random marketing framework. This is literally how humans make decisions about who to trust with their time, money, and attention.

Think about the last high-ticket investment you made or the last expert you hired. I bet you:

  • Followed them on multiple platforms
  • Consumed hours of their content
  • Saw them show up consistently over weeks or months
  • Got value from them before you ever paid them

Your audience is doing the same with you. Or at least, they're trying to.

The question is: Are you giving them what they need to say yes?

The uncomfortable truth: If you're not building this ecosystem, someone else in your space is. And they're getting the clients, speaking gigs, and opportunities that could have been yours.
