So in October 2017 I decided in a very uncommitted way to start a podcast. If you've listened to Episode #7 – The lazy girls guide to starting a podcast which has been one of my most popular episodes. I love that we're looking for easier ways to create content and that's exactly why I started podcasting.

As Seth Godin shared in a recent blog – Podcasting is the new blogging! So when the man says this is where it's going then you kind of have to listen!

Other Podcasts I talk about in this episode were:

I love video and find it easy to do but was just finding that the busier I was getting in the business, the easier it was to do audio so podcasting seemed like the perfect way to create regular content, so today I thought I would share some of my learnings:

1. Whether you do a show a fortnight or weekly, people who love what you do and talk about will still show up so don't put so much pressure on yourself. Do what works for you.

2. Don't overcomplicate it. I've spoken to some podcasters who spend hours recording, producing and putting their podcast together. Now you can absolutely do that but just so you know, it usually takes me about an hour to and hour and a half to put a podcast episode together.

3. Plan your content ahead of time and batch where you can. I batched early in the year and it was a dream. The weeks I was manic with clients I still had content to share with my community which was great. Getting interviews done ahead of time also made it really easy.

4. Engaging your audience in the content – so a few episodes were in direct response to questions I had through Instagram like how to get speaking gigs.

5. Write your intro and outro for ease and consistency – this is something I did later in the piece which is crazy because it makes so much sense to have a line you always use from a branding perspective. Whenever I listen to the Story Brand podcast I love their intro and it reinforces to me what they do every time I listen to them.

6. Which leads me to point 6 which is to listen to other podcasts, learn from them and see what you really like. What are they doing that could work for you? I love on the “How I built this” podcast when they have music through different points in the podcast which really enhances the story.

7. Start simple. I could definitely improve my show notes page with more content but that's something that I'm looking at doing in the new year and what that looks like – I haven't decided yet! The point is that you can start and then build as you go, it doesn't have to be perfect.

8. Connect with other pod casters There are lots of groups you can connect with. You could find people to interview in these groups or just get great tips from others who are doing the same thing like tech tips, or if there something new that's out then people share which is great.

So thanks so much for hanging out and listening to this podcast.  I'd love you to leave a review
