In this series, we're diving into all things scaling with group programs. Today, we're tackling a question I hear a lot: “how do you know what program to create? I've got so many ideas, where do I even start?”

I'm here to make this as simple as possible for you.

1) Know What You Want to Be Known For

When it comes to knowing what program to create, we need to take a step back and align with your brand strategy. What do you want to be known for? What is your brand about? What are people coming to you for?

For me, I'm all about helping women become bold and powerful voices in the world, claim their space with confidence. As a business coach, I want to be known for helping my clients stand out, build a solid brand, and create a profitable business.

I have three main programs that align with this: Brand Builders Academy for foundations, Amplify Accelerator for scaling with group programs and personal branding, and Bold Speakers Collective for becoming a paid speaker. Each program solves a specific problem within the umbrella of what I want to be known for.

So ask yourself: what do you want to be known for? What is the one problem you want to solve the most right now?

2) Know your dream client and Have Conversations

If you've been in business for a while, you likely have a sense of how in-demand your program idea is.

Are people in your audience and community talking about this problem?

Are you known for solving it?

Have others had success with similar programs?

If you can see that other people are selling programs around the same topic and they have a strong audience then you hazard a guess that there is demand for it.  Saying that you want to really know your audience well.

It's also crucial to have conversations and ask questions.

What problems are people having?

What solutions have they tried?

What would they be willing to pay to solve this problem?

Be mindful of who you're speaking to and where you want to position your program.

3) Get Specific on the Who, What, and Why

When designing your program, get crystal clear on who it's for. Is it for beginners or more advanced businesses? What specific need does this program meet and how?

For example, my Brand Builders Academy is for three types of clients:

  1. Those starting out and building from scratch who want foundations.
  2. Those who've had some success but lack structure and organization to grow.
  3. Experienced business owners wanting to shift or realign their business.

Knowing this helps me create targeted messaging and content.

So ask yourself: Who is this program for? What will it help them do? Why is it important to them?

If you can narrow it down to these key points, designing, building, creating and launching your program will be so much easier.
