Suz Chadwick [00:00:00]:
Welcome to the Brand Builders Lab podcast. I'm your host, Suze Chadwick, certified business and mindset coach, author and speaker. Each week we'll be talking about simple but powerful business and mindset strategies that will help you build a lean, clean and profitable business so you can learn to get out of your own way and pay yourself more for get average. It's time to level up. Hey, lovely. Welcome back to the Brand Builders Lab podcast. So good to have you here. I felt so inspired last week that I wanted to jump on a live and I wanted to record the podcast and I wanted to share this message with you.
Suz Chadwick [00:00:42]:
It came through powerfully and I was like, I have to say this thing. I have to have to share this message with you all about confidently creating opportunities for yourself. I and I'm going to talk about it in the podcast a little bit, but I just have this thought and I that keeps coming back to me right now. And it's that we're constantly looking for the silver bullet. We're looking for somebody to tell us and show us what we should do. And I just want you to know that the answer is within you. Like you showing up, doing the thing, finding your way, creating your way of doing it and just being and knowing that you have the answer. I just had to share that with you today.
Suz Chadwick [00:01:27]:
So that's kind of what I go in in this episode. If you've got any questions, let me know. But this is also a lot of what amplify 2.0 is. There is the strategy, there is the tactics about building a personal brand, but it is really about you stepping into full confidence, full belief, full worthiness that you can show up and be a leader in your space and not be consumed or, you know, like just lost in everything that is happening online at the moment. Like, how do you deeply create and build your personal brand to a point where you're like, I know exactly who I am, who I'm here to serve, what I'm here to do. And I show up on the regular to build my personal brand big, bright, brick by brick, with confidence and conviction and stepping into the identity of the person that you want to become and be right now. And so I just want to say, if you are thinking about coming and joining me for amplify 2.0, which is an eight week program, you just go to suzechadwick.com amplify and you can join the waitlist. But this is what it's about.
Suz Chadwick [00:02:43]:
It's about deeply becoming confident in who you are and what you're doing so that you can stop second guessing yourself and thinking that somebody else has the answer. Whew. It came through in a big way today. Well, listen, let's dive into this week's episode. Hello, my lovelies. We are talking all about how to become more confident so that you can create the opportunities that you want and do the things in your business that you want. And so one of the things that I have had a thought recently, and I have a thought that we have so much content and information coming at us that it is paralyzing so many people. Like, I've had this conversation with so many of my clients where it's like, you just need another hook, you just need another strategy, you just need to learn how to film.
Suz Chadwick [00:03:38]:
And I actually don't believe that that is the problem that so many business owners are facing. And so I don't. I just believe that where we're basically looking for a silver bullet at the moment, where it's like, if I just learn how to create this hook, or if I just learn how to fill myself better, then I'll figure it out and everything will be fine. And I really want to encourage you to maybe have a think about whether it's an internal thing and not an external thing that is stopping you from creating the opportunities, doing the work that you want. Right now, I feel like we're all quite consumed with content, how we create content, the fact we're consuming content, how we use it in our business, et cetera. And I want to help you shift your thinking to being somebody who is a creator of opportunities, where whatever it is that you're sharing is coming from a place of serving, from a place of value, from a place of. I know that I can support and help my clients to have a certain outcome and not stuck in the bits and pieces, in the tactics and the strategies of the actual, like creation. Because the one thing I believe, and I think that we all do this when we're in our business as well, is that I believe that when you decide that you want to start doing something and you show up regularly and you do it, you find your way, you find your flow, and you find what works for you.
Suz Chadwick [00:05:16]:
And when you find that, that's when momentum happens. And so if we are constantly looking to how other people are doing things, what their strategies are, what their tactics are, and looking for the hack, I think that that stops us from actually blocking out all of the noise and saying, I am going to figure out how this works for me, how I'm going to do this in a way that I love, that I find easy, where it helps me connect with my audience and what I'm here to do instead of looking at what everybody else is doing that gets you stuck. I have had so many conversations with clients recently where they're just like, oh, but if, you know, I really like how this person does it. So if I do it like that, then I'm sure that will work. And sure you can test and try different things. But until you actually get over the awkward, uncomfortable stage of just showing up and starting to share and finding what works for you, you're not going to be able to create the opportunities that you want in your business through the content that you're creating. So for example, along like quite a while ago, I just thought when I'm recording the podcast, I want to also do a live because it's great to go live. It's obviously great for your account when you go live to connect with people live.
Suz Chadwick [00:06:38]:
I'm also getting the podcast done at the same time, which is fantastic. And that really works for me because I find podcasting easy. I find that when I am talking about a particular topic and I'm in flow and I'm recording that audio, it feels good for me. So I really want to ask you what feels good for you when you are creating whatever you're creating for me, whether it's a talk I'm doing on stage, whether it's a podcast that I'm recording, whether it's riding a carousel, I'm actually really enjoying, like going more in depth and writing carousels rather than doing reels and videos. And so I also think it's about finding not only what you enjoy, but also what is it that's performing and doing well for you. So I was sharing, I was actually sharing on threads because we can be everywhere. I was actually sharing on threads that right now, when I look at all my analytics, my carousels are doing the best. Like they get the most engagement, they get the most shares, and they get the most saves.
Suz Chadwick [00:07:43]:
And so I'm just like, let's lean into that. Like, if that's what feels good at the moment, if that's what's easy at the moment, if that's where I'm getting engagement from my audience, then let me lean into that. And it's only by doing it and then assessing it that you're really going to know what's working for you at the moment and also just reflecting on what feels good for me. Like, where do I feel confident where do I feel in flow? And is this easy for me to create? And so for me right now, that is easy to create. Like, it's really easy for me to record the podcast and go live. It's easy for me to sit and write my carousels. And can I just say? The other thing is that I will take one idea and I will do it everywhere. And so I was listening to, who was I listening to? I was listening to a podcast the other day.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:35]:
I think it was Scott Galloway was on the a podcast, and he was just saying, what happens is that we come up with a concept and then we say it once and we're like, oh, well, I said that concept. I shared that concept once. He's like, become known for the concept. Like, talk about the concept all the time. And so the other thing that I love is sometimes when you're in flow and you're sharing, something will come up that maybe you've never said before, that you've never thought about before, that people will really resonate with. I shared this years ago where sometimes I'll create something and I'll be like, oh, my gosh, this is going to kill it. People are going to love this. And then I get crickets.
Suz Chadwick [00:09:17]:
And then sometimes I'll just be off the cuff sharing something and people will be like, oh, my gosh, that so resonated with me. So you can never really know. But when you have something that does resonate with your audience, really stop for a minute and think, what exactly was that about? Like, is that something that I need to lean more into and then share it everywhere and become known for that thing? So I was sharing on the podcast a couple of weeks ago, and I said, your energy is your invitation. So the way that you show up, the things that you say, how you connect with your audience, that's like an invitation. And if they feel like you are their kind of person, where what you say, what you do, how you show up really resonates for them, they will accept that invitation. And so I had so many people that reached out to me and said, oh, my gosh. That spoke to me. Your energy is your invitation.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:17]:
So listening to my audience and responding to that, I have now made a video on it. I think I posted that video yesterday. I'm writing a carousel on it. I'm like, what else can I like? What do I mean by it? How can I go deeper with it? You know, how can that be something that is something I'm known for? And so really starting to think about and know that you have it within you. You already have your special source within you. You already have the thing that is going to help your audience to connect and decide to accept the invitation that you're putting out there. You already have that. Stop looking externally for the quick fix, for the silver bullet, for the thing that you think is going to help you to go viral or whatever it is that you're hoping is going to happen.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:09]:
We build our brands brick by brick. And that brick by brick, is consistency. It's confidence. It's knowing that we have something of value to share. It's knowing that we're worthy of sharing it. You know, I've been working with a lot of women who are super successful, who, you know, a very experienced, who are not. This is not new to them, but starting to build their brand online has been a challenge. And it's because there's a mindset element there.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:39]:
Yeah. It's because they need to start to see that they can be visible and it's safe for them. And I think that this is something that we don't talk about enough, and it's probably something that I've only realized more recently is that a lot of times women don't show up online because they don't feel safe. And I think that that's a really interesting thing for us to think about. When I don't show up online, it could be that I don't feel safe, that I'm not going to get negative comments, that people are not going to judge me, that I'm going to make a mistake or I'm going to get it wrong. And so that element of safety, when you feel safe, you are fully yourself. You show up in confidence. You do the things that.
Suz Chadwick [00:12:28]:
That's just truly you. You know, we're not trying to be something else where you're not trying to impress anybody. And one of the things I'm. I'm talking about, it's an. It's a, in my TED talk that's coming up in a few weeks that's been really interesting is that I share how my husband and I met, which is through speed dating. But there was a study done, and I was listening to this on Diary of a CEO. There was a therapist couple that were on his podcast. I'll have to find it.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:00]:
I'll drop it in the show notes when I publish the podcast. But the therapist couple was saying that there was a study done that when people are speed dating because it's only four minutes, you don't have time to overthink how the impression that you're making, you don't have time to overthink. Like, how can I create a Persona that I think is going to work? So when we are, when we don't have time to do that, we show up more as ourselves, which is, which was kind of a study that they did in speed dating, which is like, people seem to be at their happiest when they don't have time to basically overthink how they're showing up. Yeah. And how they're making an impression. And so I really want you to think about that. How can you find spaces and places where you feel safe to be yourself but not give yourself so much time that you overthink it. Yeah.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:56]:
Where you're overthinking. Oh, well, how is this going to look and what are people going to say? And that is the thing that stops us so often from being in our confidence and being in our flow and creating from a place of feeling the energy and the inspiration that we have when we're in service. Yeah. And I was listening to, Stacey Bayman is a coach for coaches. She was talking about this the other day, which I absolutely love. And it's really about us being in our get energy. And what that means is that right now, because we're so bombarded with so much content and so many people are telling us how it should be and what we should be doing, and this is the right way and this is the wrong way that it puts us in a get energy of. Okay, well, when I show up, I have to get this outcome or it needs to be perfect or I need to make sure that people feel like this about me.
Suz Chadwick [00:14:51]:
And we've kind of moved out of the serving. Like, I'm just here to share this message with you. I felt really passionately about it this morning. I did a video on it. I'm recording the podcast. I wanted to go live just to share with you this thought that you already have the secret sauce inside of you. You already have what you need to be magnetic. You just need to stop listening to everybody around you because that's actually the big barrier and the block that you're creating for yourself.
Suz Chadwick [00:15:23]:
And so I have no expectation about me sharing this message with you today. I don't need to get anything from you as I share this message. And so I want you to think about when you're showing up and sharing, are you like, well, I need to get the likes and I need to get this and I need to get that. Like, if people don't engage and if people don't comment, then it wasn't worth it. But what about the brick by brick that you're building for your brand? The fact that it takes time for you to build your library? I had a client a while ago who shared a video and she sent me a message and said it failed. And I just said it didn't fail. You're in the process of learning a new skill. You're in the process of building the brick by brick of your brand.
Suz Chadwick [00:16:07]:
You're building a library and evidence and, and information so that when people find you and they come and they check you out, there's things there for them to learn about, there's things there for them to consume so that they can get to know you, your energy, what you've got to offer. The amount of times that I've gone to somebody's profile who happens to pop up in my feed, and I really like what I see, and then I go back to their profile, wherever that is. It could be their podcast, it could be on socials, wherever. And now I'm like looking through everything and I'm starting to really, you know, get to know them. And I think we have to come at this from a place of when we create whatever that is, where a lot, we're putting an invitation out to people to get to know us. And if we're for them, amazing. And if we're not for them, that's okay as well. But when we create from a place of, I want to create connection, and I just want to serve and I just want to give and I want to share what it is that I have.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:07]:
It's a very different energy to get energy where I need you to do something for me. I need you to give me something. I need you to pay me, I need you to book me, I need you. It's a very different energy. And I think that online you can tell when people are in get energy or in give energy. And I just really want to encourage you to take a moment that when you start to create in whatever, whether it's writing even, you know, because we were just saying that carousels are performing really well. I really love reading people's like, in depth information in carousels. Whether you're writing, video, speaking, whatever, I just want you to almost stop before you create and just think, how am I sitting in an energy of just giving? How am I sitting in an energy of serving? How am I sitting in an energy of connection? Because when I connect, I create opportunities for myself because people want to be in this space because it feels good for them, because they're learning, because they're, you know, finding out something new about themselves that they can then take away with them, too, because at the end of the day, we're really looking.
Suz Chadwick [00:18:16]:
I just feel like insights are so much more valuable than tactics and strategies. Like, what's the insight that I can give you or that you can learn from your, you know, for yourself about who you are and how you think. Stopping and finding quietness and really trying to lean into the fact that what it is that we're here to give and who we're here to serve and what it is we want to bring into the world. Because I think that really constantly aligning back to your purpose and anchoring back into why you're here and why it is that you do what you do, which I know I feel like Simon Sinek kind of made. It feels like a really general thing now, but it's actually not. Like, when you think about why, like, the people. Like, I want you to think about a client who has come to you with. With the problem that you help to solve and help them to, like, move out of.
Suz Chadwick [00:19:15]:
And when you think about them, like, sometimes it makes me want to cry. Like, it does actually makes me a bit emotional when I think about the clients where they're just, like, I was always told, like, to be seen and not heard or, you know, when I actually shared what I really thought, people laughed at me or told me that it wasn't a value or just things like that. And I just think, oh, my gosh, like, that's what I'm here to do. And so I just want you to really think about what is it that you want to always be leaning into when it comes to feeling confident in your service and your giving? Yeah. So when you are building your personal brand and when you are serving your audience, I just really want you to come at it from a place of, like, how am I giving and not always looking at getting? So those are just some thoughts that I wanted to share with you today. I hope that they were helpful. Sometimes I just get inspired and I want to jump on and I want to share it with you. But anyway, listen, have an amazing day.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:16]:
So good to see you, and I will speak with you soon.
