Today, we're talking all about how to shift your energy intentionally to get more of what you want in business. This is something that I feel like I have known for a long time. It's something that, you know, has been taught in different programs that I've been in. It's something that I feel is a very real thing as well. And so it's something that I'm focusing on this year a bit more, and I'm gonna talk to you about it. I'm gonna talk to you about what I'm doing, and I'm gonna talk to you about what I've learned, and I'm gonna talk to you about what you can do as well. So that's what today is all about. So if you have been following me. You may know that I am currently in my year of yes. Hashtag year of yes, hashtag year of me. And I've been talking about this a bit. And so if you have not listened on Audible, because I actually think that's the best thing to do, Tashunda Ryme's Year of Yes, Then Do It. I actually listened to it several years ago, and I relistened to it kind of every year or bits and pieces of it.
Suz Chadwick [00:02:55]:
It's such a great book and so many elements that I love. You know that I love to relisten to books like big magic, and the year of yes is one of them as well. I'm into fiction at the moment, but anyway, beside the point. So I decided that this year was gonna be a year of yes for me. Now there are some internal changes and external changes. And so I wanted to talk today about how you intentionally shift your energy to create more of what you want. And I think that this year of yes is this intentional shift and change for me. So there are 3 things.
Suz Chadwick [00:03:35]:
Number 1, there's the first thing is the intention. So the intention for me is that I want to get out more and meet more people. I want to shift my own energy where, if I'm honest, I have just felt very bored in life. Like, I felt a bit bored in my business last year. I have felt very bored with, like, my whole look, and fashion is a big thing for me. So I was always a fashion girly. I feel like over the last couple of years, I have kind of eased into a very comfortable look, but it doesn't make me feel amazing. And so the intention around that has been do the things I wear, do the things I have bring me joy.
Suz Chadwick [00:04:21]:
And the reason for that and this is not gonna be for everybody, but the reason for that is because what I put on my body makes me feel a certain way. Yeah. So when I look good, I feel good. When I feel good, I do bigger things. That's that's how it works. So that is one of the intentional things is how do I wanna feel, how do I look, what is around me that is helping me to say yes to more of the things that I want. It was interesting. I was having this conversation with my husband the other day where I'm like, I'm growing my hair.
Suz Chadwick [00:04:54]:
I just cleared out, like, a third of my wardrobe, my shoes, my jewelry, or anything where I was like, does that make me feel like an absolute LOOP BOSS, an absolute queen. No. Get rid of it. And so I'm selling some. I gave a whole lot away to charity on the weekend. My wardrobe just feels a lot better. And so I was saying explaining this to my husband, like, what I'm planning on doing. So this is the intentional part.
Suz Chadwick [00:05:20]:
I said to him, I'm gonna clear up my wardrobe and give myself space to welcome new things energetically into my wardrobe that make me feel amazing, which means that when I feel amazing, I'll do bigger things. I've been wanting to get a 2nd earring for a while, and I had this whole thought, am I too old for that? Blah blah blah, which is total rubbish and catching myself in those thoughts. So the intention is to shift to that style, and so I went and got a 2nd earring the other day. And then also, like, I have been thinking about how I wanna be in my office, in my home. So I did a big clear out in my office. I took some things down. I'm getting some new art. And just once again, intentionally shifting the energy.
Suz Chadwick [00:06:09]:
I did money boot camp with Denise Duffield Thomas years ago. I'm talking, like, probably 9 years ago. And one of the concepts that she talks about, which I think is definitely an energetic thing. It's called incremental upgrades. And so it's really looking at different parts of your life and saying, what is one thing I could do here that could make me feel like more amazing, that could be an upgrade in my life because when we create upgrades for ourselves, we now have this expectation that this is what things should be like for me. And so, you know, things like a basic, example that we use in that particular program was things things like your underwear. Like, are you wearing underwear where the elastic band's gone, you've got holes in it, bras that you've had for years that are not great? And so looking at your life, looking at your business, and saying, what do I need to clear out intentionally? Actually, the first thing is what do I want? So I want you to think about and you can sit and write this down. You could journal on it as well.
Suz Chadwick [00:07:19]:
So the first thing I want you to ask is, what do I want, and how do I wanna feel. So I want more opportunities. I want to meet new people. I wanna go to new places. I want to connect in a bigger way. I want to grow my brand. These are things that I intentionally want for myself this year. And so when I then look at each of those things, what is it that I'm gonna do? What are the incremental upgrades that I'm going to allow myself to have or that I'm gonna facilitate for myself in order to experience this intentional energy shift for me.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:00]:
Yeah. So the first thing is what do you actually want, and then taking a look at from what you want, what are the incremental upgrades you're gonna give yourself you're gonna do, what are the things you're gonna change that are gonna help you to start to make those shifts in your life and your business. And, obviously, I talk our business a lot, but I am you know, I feel like when my life is where I want it to be, when my mindset is where I want it to be, when I look good and I feel good, that all impacts on my business. It all impacts on how I show up in my business, what I do in my business. And so you've gotta look at all aspects of your life. Yeah? Intentionally, what do I want my mindset to be? And it's so interesting. I am in a really good head space at the moment. This year so far.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:48]:
We're just at the end of January as I'm recording this. It's been, like, pretty awesome. And but then my brain, like, while I'm doing my makeup or whatever, when I'm in the shower, just offers the most unhelpful things. And so just being quite fierce with my thought management is something that I am intentionally doing in order to ensure that the energy that I'm bringing to my day every day to whatever else I'm doing is a really positive energy. So that's, like, number 1, yes, is what is your intention? What is the energy you wanna create? What's the life you wanna have, what are the incremental upgrades that you're gonna make. So you could stop this podcast right now, and you could go and ask yourself those questions. Gins, and I think they're really incredible questions to ask because I think a lot of times we don't ask ourselves what we want, and we just do what we think we're supposed to do. We just are on that hamster wheel.
Suz Chadwick [00:09:49]:
We just, like, keep going. And I just really wanna encourage you to actually stop and ask yourself, what would amazing look like for me this year. What do I actually want, and how am I gonna go about getting it? What do I need to clear? What do I need to get rid of? What is clogging up and cluttering my life, my business, my mindset, my space that I need to actually, like, just get rid of. And I have this conversation with my daughter because she can be a little bit of a hoarder, and I am, like, somebody that throws away things. Like, I'm just, like, get, like, get it out of the house. We do charity drops on a regular basis. And she collects a lot of things, but then she has the hassle of having to keep her room clean, but because she's got so much staff, it's really hard for her. And so we have this conversation where it's like, if you keep collecting things, buying things, having things that and you don't clear out.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:50]:
It's gonna take up a lot of mental energy and physical energy to constantly try and organize this chaos. And so the question I have for you is do you have chaos in your life in certain areas, and you might be like, no. Like, I'm good. My house is clear, all the rest of it. But do you have chaos happening in other areas of your life, your mind, etcetera. So that's the first thing is really being intentional. And then the 2 areas that I want you to think about and be intentional about when it comes to creating new energy, shifting the energy is, number 1, we're gonna talk about internal, and then we're gonna talk about external. So internal are the thoughts, the feelings that you have.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:34]:
And so we already know that I'm a big fan of Brooke Castillo's the model, which is that your thoughts create your feelings, your feelings create your actions, your actions create your results. And so when I think about, you know, I really wanna build my brand bigger this year, and I want to get out more. Then thinking about what are the thoughts am I having around it because they're going to then have the results. Like, they're going to fuel the results that I have. And so I'm thinking it's gonna be really easy for me to build my brand this year. I'm gonna show up and have so much fun with this. This is going to be, like, one of the best years as far as me starting to connect with new people, attract a new audience, attract new clients. And so those thoughts are helping me to feel like, yeah, this is I can do this.
Suz Chadwick [00:12:26]:
I can totally do this. This is not gonna be a hard thing to do. And so bringing that fresh energy in, like, I can come up with new ideas. Like, there's new ways for me to grow my list. Like, we using ManyChat. I'm gonna play on TikTok and have some fun even though it's you know, like I've said in previous episodes, I'm gonna suck and it's gonna feel cringe, but, hey, I can still do it. And just really thinking about what are the thoughts that I'm having. What is it that I wanna create, and so what thoughts can I start to cultivate? And I'm back into my intentional thought creation in the morning, writing down what those things are.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:04]:
You know, the other thing that I'm doing is I am writing down my manifestation journal too, where it's just like, what do I wanna invite in right now? And so I sent a couple of big emails yesterday. I actually did a DM, to a really big Zechan that I really love, and they were looking for a speaker. And I sent them a message saying, hey. If you're looking for a speaker, here's my dates, it, etcetera, and we ended up in a bit of a conversation. So I am shooting my shot. Yeah? And me having those intentional thoughts that this is possible, ball that I can go after anything, that big opportunities are gonna come to me. Once again, fuel the feeling of confidence and courage and being brave, shooting my shot, and then taking the action to get the result that I want. So it's not just woo woo.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:56]:
I just wanna say this to you. This is not woo. When we set these intentions, when we manage our thoughts, we then take the action that gets us the results. I messaged a couple of people that, had inquired about working with me, and I literally just sent them. And this is like a little strategy that you can use as well. But I just sent them the not like the 9 word email, which is, hey. Just wanted to check if you're still wanting to, like, build your brand, build your business this year, and if you still wanted help. That was it.
Suz Chadwick [00:14:29]:
And I sent that out to 4 clients. And so far, like, pretty much in the same day, she came back to me and said, yes. I do. Can we book a call? So me just constantly thinking that opportunities are available to me and that I can either email people, follow-up, create content, be present. Like, it's just all available to me. There is no downside to it. If somebody says no, it's all good, and I just move on. Like, I have no thoughts about it.
Suz Chadwick [00:15:00]:
And so by managing your mind and really being like, I. My intention is that I wanna have big things happen this year. I wanna work with more of the clients that I think are gonna be great for me. Then I'm now just doing it without any kind of, you know, afterthought. And what I mean by that is, like, I'm not like, oh, I don't know if I should do it. I feel a bit awkward. Like, none of those thoughts are coming to me. I'm just, like, all in, in for a penny, in for a pound, as my mother used to say.
Suz Chadwick [00:15:29]:
And so that is from an internal perspective. When you can manage your internal dialogue, you will create the energy that you want to go after the things that you want, to create the opportunities that you want, and you will start to see opportunities so much more as well. So really think about what else could you be doing, even talking about this. I'm like, I am open to more speaking opportunities, more podcasting opportunities. I wanna, like, go overseas and speak as well. I wanna start working with more of my clients in BBA and Amplify and more 1 on 1 clients, and I'm loving the clients that I'm attracting right now. And I believe wholeheartedly putting it out there into the universe that more amazing clients are gonna come to me because they feel values aligned with what I'm talking about. You know, if you wanna shift your energy, if you wanna start to have really clear goals.
Suz Chadwick [00:16:23]:
It's not just about, like, you know, thinking about it, but it's about thinking about it, believing it, and then taking the action. Shen. And if you're somebody who's like, yes, Susan, I wanna be really clear on what I want, what is my intention, what I wanna create, what those, you know, actions need to be and then everything that I need to create around it for me to take those actions. I am tired of my own thoughts getting in the way. You know, I say all the time, I will help you get out of your own way. And so having that internal element is the second thing. What are your thoughts? What are your feelings? What results are you having? And it's all based on that first element of the intentions that your setting for yourself this year. The third thing is external.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:07]:
So what are you shifting externally that's gonna shift your energy? Now I've already talked to you about the fact that I've done a clear out within, you know, my home and my wardrobe and all the rest of it in my office, but really thinking about not just your places and spaces, but I am, like, getting out a little bit more and, you know, working in different places just to give my self, a new perspective. I think that once again, when you shift where you are, you can change your thinking and your perspective. I got invited to go to a mastermind in Sydney, and I just thought, yeah, I don't know who's gonna be there. I trust the person who's invited me, and so I'm just gonna book a flight, and I'm gonna go. Now I would not probably have done that in the last year or 2, because it would mean like, oh, the kids, and I don't know if I can do it, and I don't wanna, like, be a hassle the fam I'm just like, you know something I have I constantly do a lot. I am just gonna go. I'm gonna take this opportunity. My kids are big enough now to be able to get themselves off to school.
Suz Chadwick [00:18:07]:
My husband can take care of things, and I'm gonna go and I'm going to embrace opportunities myself. So not only do I just say yes immediately to the Mastermind Day, but then I'm like, let me book a workshop in Sydney, and let me see how that goes. And I have no our thoughts about success or failure with that. I'm just like, I've already got people booked in for it. It's gonna be a great day. I cannot work wait to do more in person stuff. And so really looking at what is the external things, so the people, the places, the spaces. And just having the thought that when I go to this mastermind day, I'm gonna meet people who I've never met before.
Suz Chadwick [00:18:45]:
I'm gonna talk about things I've never talked about before. I'm gonna make some great connections. And so there is that energy. I'm bringing that energy, and I'm gonna bringing that energy on the day as well even though it's a very early flight for me. But what is the external thing that you wanna create? Now I know that we talk about, you know, you are the sum of the 5 people that you spend time with, but I really wanna ask you the question. When you write down the 5 people you spend the most time with, this is a little exercise I want you to do. And it's it's not your family. I want you to think about outside your family.
Suz Chadwick [00:19:23]:
Hopefully, you're spending time with people who are also outside your family. So I want you to write down the names of, like, 5 people you spend a lot of time with, and then write down how they make you feel, how they help you to do the things that you want and anything else that you wanna write down. Yeah. Just have a bit of a step back and take a look at who you're spending time with. And then decide, do I feel like these 5 people are the 5 people I need around me in order to go to the level I wanna go to, in order to grow as a person, grow my business, grow whatever it is that you're looking grow, are these the 5 people? Now this is not about this is not about getting rid of people. It's about intentionally creating the energy around you when it comes to the people you're spending time with. So you might still be friends with those people. You might still hang out those people, but it's like, okay.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:22]:
I actually need people who think bigger than me. I need people who are maybe more skilled than me, or I need peers who I can, like, chat to and who support me, who help me think in a better way, who energize me, and so being intentional with that. And once again, not just being like, oh, yeah. No. I get that. I've heard that before, but not looking at it and saying, is this going to help me? So I did that a week ago. It was interesting. And I definitely need to think about how else I'm bringing more people into my circle who I feel are gonna really support me to grow and build in the way that I want.
Suz Chadwick [00:21:04]:
Other things that help me externally are things like podcasts, books. Music is another one, that just kind of gets you in the mood to do the work that you wanna do or helps you think in a different way and also just spending time thinking. You know I talk about strategic thinking. And so I sat down the other day, and I was like, alright. I wanna develop, like, a new personal brand model that I can kind of take what I've been talking about, but make it better. I'm always about making what I do better. I wanna like it completely. I wanna redo some of the Amplify content.
Suz Chadwick [00:21:42]:
I'm thinking about whether I redo some of the BBA content because I got it filmed, and it looks amazing. But I'm like, I kinda think I wanna go back to being a little bit more raw. Just really looking at how you're building your external message in the market to create the energy that you want to attract the people that you want. Those are some things to think about. I feel like those 3 really core things that I've shared with you today that you could go and workshop each one of them. So the first one is what do you want? What is your intention this year? What is it that you wanna create? Who do you wanna be? How do you wanna be, what are the incremental upgrades you can start to make in order to make that happen. The second thing is your internal. What are the thoughts that you're having, what are the beliefs that you have to achieve the big things that you wanna achieve, and how are you cultivating that on a regular basis to then shift your internal energy.
Suz Chadwick [00:22:39]:
And the third thing is your external. So who are you spending time with? What are you listening to? How are you cultivating what it is that you already know to make it better so that you can start to put that out into the world and shift the energy around who you're attracting into you. So if you wanna shift the energy you to get more of what you want in business and life. Those are 3 things that I am doing right now in my year of yes, year of yes to me, year of hashtag year of me, where I am focusing a lot more on myself and what I want, and I'll tell you why. Because some people might be like, it sounds very selfish of you, Suz, for years, for, like, 13, 14 years, I have, you know, been putting other people first, and I'm all okay with that. But sometimes, like I said to a girlfriend the other night when we went out for a cocktail, sometimes you have to put your own CIGENT mask on, and you have to bring yourself to your highest level of happiness in order to give the people around you the best that you have. And I will never forget that. I always remember, you know, years years years ago, even before I got married, it was kind of like somebody else is not going to make you happy.
Suz Chadwick [00:23:58]:
You have to make yourself happy. And when you do that, everybody else around you then gets the best of you, and it helps them to become happier as well because you're not depleted, you're not running on empty, you're not putting yourself last and therefore, like, not living your dreams and what it is that you want for yourself. And so just really ask yourself, are you doing the things that make you happy? Are you doing the things where you're like, I gave my all. Like, I really went after what I wanted. I went after those opportunities. I hung out with people I really wanted to, and I lived, like, the best that I could live. And by making yourself happy, you give to everybody else. And I think that's something that, as women, a lot of the times, we just don't think about.
Suz Chadwick [00:24:50]:
And so that is why that is what I'm doing this year. I'm just like, it's time for me to have a glow up. It's time for me to have a glow up internally, externally in my life, in my space, and to have more fun and joy and be the woman that I wanna be. So that is today's episode.
