Today we're going to talk about planning for quarterly success with a 90 day sprint.
We'll chat about:
Suz Chadwick [00:00:00]:
Welcome to the Brand Builders Lab Podcast. I'm your host, Sue Chadwick, certified business and mindset coach, author, and speaker. Each week, we'll be talking about simple but powerful business and mindset strategies that will help you build a lean, clean, and profitable business so you can learn to get out of your own way and pay yourself more. Forget average. It's time to level up. Hello, my lovelies. We are back again. We are doing multiple episodes this week and next week as we go into the launch of BBA.
Suz Chadwick [00:00:34]:
And I just did a live all about planning and 90 day sprints and which I love, and I wanted to share it with you. So we're just gonna dive straight in. When it comes to being really deliberate in your business when it comes to focusing on what you want. Like, do Do you actually wanna get the results that you wanna get? And if you wanna get those results, then you've gotta be somebody that plans To get the results. So let's talk about what a 90 day sprint looks like. So this is something I go through with a lot of my clients. I'm gonna be going through this with my mastermind clients this week where we work through a series of questions and sections that I wanted to share with you today so that if you wanna do a 90 day sprint, then it's something that you can start to implement. Now this is something that we try and do, like, just Before the next quarter, obviously, we're it's the 3rd October as I'm on this live and recording this podcast.
Suz Chadwick [00:01:42]:
And so we're just in or about to start q four here in Australia. Our financial year starts at the beginning of July, but I always think about it in a yearly way. So we're in q four. So I just want you to think about, like, what is it that you really want this quarter? I think that it is important to do, like, your 12 month goals. I think it's important to do, like, what am I trying to achieve this year? Within the Bold Business Academy, we take a look your business strategies. So what are your products and services? How much are you charging? How many do you need to sell in order to, like, reach the financial goals that You've got for this financial year or for this 12 months or for this quarter. And so once you kind of got that overall picture, then it's really about breaking it down. You ever feel like I don't know what to do now? Like, I don't like, what am I supposed to be doing now? Do you ever feel that way? Well, you're like, so what are we supposed to be doing in Business now, how am I supposed to be getting clients? Ever feel that way? If you do feel that way, then doing this planning, which is your 90 day, Your 12 month and your 90 day sprints is gonna really help you.
Suz Chadwick [00:02:51]:
It also helps you to be very deliberate and very focused on what's happening in the market now because you can have a 12 month plan, which is great, and I think it's important to have a 12 month business plan. But if the market Totally changes. If things in your business totally change, then you've also gotta be adaptable on a quarterly basis where you're like, okay. Well, we were planning on doing x in q three, but all of that's changed, and we now need to kind of rejig, realign, rethink our strategy. So when you're doing a 90 day sprint, which is what I'm gonna talk about, now, there are some things that I love to include that May not always be in everybody else's 90 day sprint. So if you wanna work through this with me, grab a pen and paper, and we can work through this together. So the first thing I take a look at is that I've kind of got my 90 day sprint, and then I've got the month. So, you know, October, November, December is what we would be going through.
Suz Chadwick [00:03:51]:
And the first thing I do is I take a look and I say, in January, like, what's What am I focusing on? Not in January, in October. In October, what is something that I'm focusing on? What is the result that I wanna get this month? Is there anything big that's happening? Like, do you have events that are happening? Do you have a launch that's happening? Is there one particular product or service that you wanna sell? And what are you gonna do in October that's gonna help you to reach that? Yeah? So at the top, you've kinda got what is the main activity for this month. So October, November, December, 4q 4, what is the main activity that I have for this month that I wanna focus on? So for me, I've got the BBA launch for October. For November, we will be focusing on the Bold Speakers collective evergreen funnel as well as amplify for the next 12 months. So I've got specific things each month that I'm focusing on. So what are you focusing on? For October, you can you know, something you could use the chat Right now, to let me know what you're planning for. What are you planning for for October? What are you planning for for November? What are you planning 4 for December. The next thing that I love to ask, and I don't think that this is always on a business strategist's 90 day sprint.
Suz Chadwick [00:05:07]:
What are my manifestation goals? Yeah. What is it that I want that I I'm not gonna work out the how, But I'm just gonna be like, I want more of this. I would love more time with friends. I would love To be laughing more, having more fun, being out amongst people more. I wanna manifest incredible New clients to me who are leaders, who are driven, who want big things. Like those, when I think about my manifestation goals, it's really about Feeling into what I want for this next quarter. Yes. We're gonna get down into the numbers.
Suz Chadwick [00:05:43]:
Yes. We're gonna get down into the money. But, Like, let's let's kinda start here and be like, what do I want it more in my life? And I think that When you can connect more with, like, what you're trying to attract to you, I think that then the strategy and the planning and the numbers kinda can fall out of that as well. Yeah. So I want you to think about when we're doing a 90 day sprint, one of the first things before we get into the numbers is what do you wanna manifest more? What do you wanna invite more into your life. And I think that when we know what we want more of, then we can start to identify it. It's kind of the whole you know, I did a podcast years ago, which Was the lazy girl's guide to manifestation. And it's the whole thing of when you're looking to buy a car and you decide on what you won, and I just wanna really emphasize that.
Suz Chadwick [00:06:33]:
When you are going to buy a car or buy something and you decide on what you want, then you start to see it everywhere. And that is, like, the most basic level of, like, what I think manifestation is. I have decided that I want more laughter, more friends, more events, more joy in my life. I want more incredible clients Like this, this, and this. Like, I name and claim them. And the more clear that I can get on that and the fact that I have decided that that is what I want, Now my brain is going to from a neuroscience perspective, my brain is now going to be searching out for those opportunities, for those people, for those things. Yeah? And so when you decide that you want more of that, so tell me in the comments, what do you want more of? Like, name it and claim it. Let's get it out there into the universe, yes, so that we can be really clear that I actually want more of that.
Suz Chadwick [00:07:29]:
I'm really clear that that's what I want. So I start my 90 day sprint with myself and my clients, and I say, what are your manifestation goals? What do you want more of? How do you wanna Feel. What do you wanna create? What do you wanna attract more of? Yeah? So that's where we're gonna start, our planning. The second thing that we're gonna go through is our main goals. So, like, what is the priority? So for example, if October is a BBA launch for me, then I'm gonna start to get into the nitty gritty. I'm gonna start get into the details of the actions that I need to take for that particular task. So for me, I'm gonna be sending the email copy to my VA by a certain day. I've gotta create certain social posts.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:08]:
I gotta work with my ads manager, all of those sorts of things. So I write down, like, what is my main focus. I'm just gonna Focus on 1 month. So for October, this is the goal. These are all the things that I need to do. This is who I am doing it with, so my team as well. And then another thing that not everybody has in their planning or their 90 day sprint is what do I have to believe? So in order for me to believe that I am going to attract amazing clients into my program and Be working with the type of people I wanna work with, I'm gonna believe that my message is gonna get out there. It's gonna land, that I have got exactly what I need, that I have I've got the right team around me, that the work that I am doing is of value and that it's gonna work, and I'm gonna get the result that I want.
Suz Chadwick [00:08:58]:
Because the thing is is that this might sound woe to some people, but one of the biggest issues that I find when clients come to me, one of the biggest issues and the conversations that I have when I'm having discovery calls, all with new clients I'm working with is that they want to earn the money. They want to attract the clients. They want to have the results and the outcomes that they want. But when I asked them, well, are you showing up? Are you sharing what you have? Are you following up on sales inquiries? Whatever it might be. Are you emailing your list? Things like that. Then they're like, no. I'm not doing that. And there's that big gap between, like, the action that you're taking and the desires that you have.
Suz Chadwick [00:09:45]:
And so there's that gap there, and the gap is the beliefs. Yeah. So you've got you know exactly what you need to do. You've got all these desires that you You have the outcomes that you want, and the you've gotta bridge the belief gap, yeah, where you're like, there are so many people that want what you have. There are people who are just waiting for you to email them. There are just people who are waiting for you to let them know, like, what your offers are. And so if you're not getting the results that you want, if you're not getting, like, the clients that you want, if you're not getting the opportunities that you want, you've really gotta sit and go, how am I showing up in the world, and how am I showing up to my clients or my community? How am I communicating the value that I bring, yeah, so that they know? See, we assume that people know. People Don't know.
Suz Chadwick [00:10:36]:
People are consumed with themselves. People are consumed with their lives, what's happening for them, and we Need to be aware of that, but also know that if I show up and I communicate the fact that clients can work with me, that this is what I believe, this is how I work, Then it gives them the opportunity to opt in or opt out. Doesn't matter you know, either way, the right people will opt in, and the people who are not right You will opt out, and that's okay. But you've gotta seek your beliefs alongside your goals. Like, this is something that So many people either don't realize or don't do, and it will make all the difference. Like, if you are not reaching your goals, you've gotta ask Yourself, what do you believe that means that you're not doing the work that's required for you to get the goal? So I'll give you an example is that, like, I started a new business a while a call a while ago called BBC, Bold Buds Consulting. And my belief is that there are a lot of people out there who have got an incredible message, who wanna create content, but they're really struggling to create that content. Now I've got the skills to be able to help them to do that.
Suz Chadwick [00:11:46]:
So my belief is, yeah, like, I can do that. I can show them. I can, like, bring this together and make it really fun as well. Because I also think that people Feel like creating content is like pulling teeth, or it's just not fun for them. I'm like, I can make this fun for them. And so that belief then drives me to, like, email people and connect with them and book clients and charge for what the service is and all the rest of it. I want you to think about what is it that you could be doing more of. And if you're not doing it, That one goal for October, what's your goal for October? What do you need to do in order to achieve that goal? And then what do you believe that's gonna drive you to actually do the thing.
Suz Chadwick [00:12:31]:
Yeah? So I want you to really think about that. So the first one is the main goal. So When you're doing your 90 day sprint, I'm just gonna go through 1 month. We're gonna go through October. I'm gonna go through what are my main activities for the month, What are my manifestation goals for the month? What do I wanna feel? What do I wanna create? What do I wanna experience? Then I'm gonna go into my main goal. This is the goal. These are all the things I need to do. This is who I need to allocate it to.
Suz Chadwick [00:12:56]:
The this is the work that needs to be done by this date, and then this is what I have to believe in order for me to Execute on those activities in the best way that I possibly can. Yeah? The second thing that we're gonna go 2 is your marketing and lead generation for that. And this is something else that I think, you know, when I speak to my clients, we Kind of work on, like, what is your lead generation strategy? How let's let's take all the tech, like, the, you know, business babble out of it, And let's actually say, how am I finding new clients? How am I connecting in a deeper way with the clients who I want to be speaking to. It was really interesting. I caught up with some girlfriends yesterday, and we were having a conversation about, like, who we wanna work with and all of that. And so within Amplify, which is a mastermind that I have, I'm just like, I just wanna work with people who are like they they're leaders. They're, like, They have something to say. They wanna be on a stage.
Suz Chadwick [00:13:57]:
They wanna have a podcast. They wanna have a voice. Like, they are there going, I'm I am here to stand out. Yeah? So you've really gotta think about, like, who do you wanna be working with, and how can you get So granular with that person. Like, this is what their personality is like. This is, like, what they love. This is what they believe. This is what they desire for themselves and then talk more about that.
Suz Chadwick [00:14:23]:
Like, are you actually saying, I love to work with this type of person? Or are you, like, scared that if you name your name and claim your audience, that you may, like, turn some people off? But if you did turn them off, They would be the people that you're not really interested in working with. So I just kind of wanna put that little caveat in there as well. Yeah? Like, I think that that that the way that marketing's going, the way that the market has changed, I think that the more that you talk about your who, The more you talk about what they want and who they are and how they show up, the more you will attract those types of people. Yeah? Because we we kind of Speak our reality. Yeah. We speak what we want into reality. So think about how you're doing that, and and when you are marketing, How are you getting new leads in? And are you being really specific saying, if you're this kind of person, then get in contact. Let's talk.
Suz Chadwick [00:15:21]:
Like, I know I can help you get this outcome. Does that feel good to you? Does it not feel good to you? I'm an ex salesperson, so I love selling. And the reason that I love selling is because I know that It means I get to work with somebody for them to get an outcome. Yeah? So that's the reason why I love selling because I find it enjoyable to be in a client relationship and to help somebody to get their goals with somebody who I, like, really believe in and somebody who I love working with. So I also I think that if you're hesitant, like, if you're like, I don't know what my lead generation strategy is. I don't know exactly who I wanna work with. I feel really awkward talking about who I wanna work with. Then that's like a whole belief thing that you've gotta start working on and start changing so that You're like, imagine if you had loads of clients and loads of amazing clients and loads of the clients that you actually wanna work with.
Suz Chadwick [00:16:13]:
I want you to Just stop for a minute and feel it in your body and be like, I've got so many incredible people coming to me because I'm showing up and I'm sharing, like, who I wanna work with and what I can do and, like, the outcomes that they get. How how amazing would that be instead of feeling like nobody wants to work with me or I don't know what to do next? Like, it's kind of like, which Do you want more of? So the next thing we're doing in our our 90 day sprint is our marketing and lead generation. Like, Who are we trying to attract? What's our lead generation strategy? Are you for me? Because I'm in the online space, I do webinars. But I've got Got some clients who are on here right now. Hi. Where we're talking about lead generation strategies where, they have got Specific types of clients they wanna be working with, who they wanna make an offer to, which is more in, like, the b to b space. So now we do a strategy around b to b. Who do you wanna be working with? If you wanna be working with fashion consultants, let's get a list of all the fashion consultants in Melbourne.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:15]:
Let's take a look at what the offer could be. Let's Take a look at how we can send them a DM and have a conversation with them. We're not doing anything super formal. We're being really casual in our approach. We're being really friendly, And it's literally like, hey. This is what I do. I, you know, I know that you're in Melbourne as well, and I wanted to touch base and see if it might be of interest. Like, I think sometimes we think that when we do sales yeah.
Suz Chadwick [00:17:39]:
When we do sales, it has to be like you know those I don't know if you get them, but I get them. The emails where somebody sends me, like, this war and peace, like, massive email about everything that they can do And the fact that they can book me 30 to 40 new client calls a day. And and then when I don't respond to them, they send me an saying, well, obviously, you're not interested in taking your business to the next level. And I have to stop myself from being, like, Very unprofessional with those emails. But I just want you to think about, you know, how can you have more fun when it comes to your lead generation? How can you have more fun with your marketing? How can you have more fun and be in flow with writing emails to your subscribers, getting on your socials, you know, contacting if you're in a b to b setting, people who you think could be great clients potentially. Yeah? And just start to build your network. Just start to build your network so that you can start, like, building those relationships, making those connections, and then think about what it is that you're gonna do to build those relationships as well. And then what do you need to believe? So just as a side note, every single, like, strategy, whether it's business strategy, your marketing strategy, your sales strategy, everything that we do that's got tactics, where it's like, this is the goal, these are financial, these are the numbers, I'm always gonna have what I what do I need to believe.
Suz Chadwick [00:19:06]:
Yeah? What do I need to believe in order for me to DM that person and be like, this is, like, Such a great opportunity for you, and I wanna connect. And whether you say yes or no, I just wanna be, like, you know, in your network and saying hi. So what do you need to believe when it comes to your marketing? So one of the things I've written down is my ideal client values. The content that I'm putting out and wants Engage with me. This is gonna be so easy. Yeah. I have everything I need. I just need to make the time to do this.
Suz Chadwick [00:19:34]:
And so the other thing that I find really interesting when I speak to either new clients or my community is We have a negative bias. Yeah? So our brain has a negative bias. This is hard. This won't work. I don't have what I need. You know, I need to, like, be better at this. Whatever it is, our brain is always going not enough. The so your brain will automatically always go to not enough.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:00]:
When whether you're doing marketing, sales, building relationships, it'll just tell you that you're not enough because it's trying to keep you safe. So I have to do those deliberate beliefs around the fact that this is what I believe. This is gonna be easy. Yeah. You've just gotta tell yourself that. This is gonna this can be fun. This can be easy. Yeah.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:21]:
I can make this happen. People want what I have. Like, whatever you need to say to counteract your negative bias, which is a natural function of our Brain, just so that you know, we're talking neuroscience here, people. Talking neuroscience here. Our that's what our brain's job is here to do. So we have got to counteract that aggressively. We've gotta counteract that aggressively. Yeah.
Suz Chadwick [00:20:50]:
Awesome, Jodie. So I just want you to be thinking about what is your lead generation strategy for October, for this quarter, For the next 90 days, what will you do? What will you do differently? What will you what's working? What's not working? What's something new that you will try? What is a new belief that you will have aligned with your marketing and lead generation strategy? What will it be? Write it down. You know, there's like, when we write it down, it becomes something that is more real. When we write it down, it becomes something that we're actually, like, saying yes. Like, I am gonna make this happen. I am going to, you know, commit to this as well. So I just want you to think about how are you actually, like, showing up and making these commitments to yourself? Are you just thinking, oh, it'd be really nice for me to get more clients? Be really nice. Wouldn't it be nice if just clients came to me magically And I didn't have to do anything to get them.
Suz Chadwick [00:21:51]:
That would be amazing. Yes. So I just want you to think about what do you need to believe as well, and what are the actions you've gotta take. When it comes to your sales goals, I just want you to think about, like, once leads come in, what's my process then? What is it that I am What am I gonna do? How am I gonna make this a really great experience for them? Now one of the things that I've done in the past is that when somebody books seen for, like, 1 on 1 coaching discovery call. For me, it's just about understanding them. It's not about selling. It's not about, Like, you know, getting them signed on the dotted line. It's about really understanding whether they're the right client for me and whether I'm the right coach for them.
Suz Chadwick [00:22:30]:
So I think it's about intention as well. When you go into sales, and like I was saying a little bit earlier, is that when you decide that Selling is serving. It's an oldie, but a goodie. When you decide that selling is serving, the more people like, the more sales I I can make the more people I can work with, the more sales I can make, the more people whose lives I can help to transform in whatever your area of Expertise, your zone of geniuses. Yeah? And when I decide that actually selling means said I'm gonna be working with the right people because sometimes someone will have a discovery call with me, and I'll be like, I don't think I'm the right coach for you. Yeah. But here's a couple of other people who I think would be great. And so when you are in your sales mode, what is your intention? What are you thinking? What's It's your end game because it's not always to make the sale, which I know might sound really counterintuitive, But it's like when I get on a sales call, I wanna know whether this is the right client for me.
Suz Chadwick [00:23:31]:
That's my intention. And if it is the right client, then we're all good to go. But if it's not the right client, then that's okay too. So I just want you to think about how am I taking my leads, and what is my strategy to convert The right people, which means I need to have the right message to being the clients that then buy from me and I engage with. Yeah? There's a couple of other things that I do and I work with my clients on when we do the 90 day sprint is that I've got a couple of I've got the financial goals, and I've got my personal goals as well. So I'm what I am thinking about like, We're about to go into you know, we're in spring and summer. So what are my personal goals for this quarter? I wanna go down the beach more. I wanna catch up with More friends.
Suz Chadwick [00:24:15]:
I wanna, like, do date nights more. There might be a festival I wanna go to. So even when I'm in my business, you know, 90 day sprint, I am always thinking about the fact that I work to live. Yeah. So I work to live. I work so that I can have more fun. I work So that I can be with the people I enjoy. I work so that I have more freedom as well.
Suz Chadwick [00:24:38]:
And so I put that in my business plan. I know it might kinda be like, but, Suze, that's not business, but it's the reason I do business. Yeah. The reason I do business is to help my clients. The reason I do business is to be fulfilled and do work that I love, but I also do business so that I can have the freedom, the time and financial Freedom. So I am really clear on, like, what my personal life looks like in the next quarter as well. And then I usually have, like, a personal goal, as in, like, a little while ago, I had a copywriting goal where I was spending some time focusing on how I write copy better. I've just bought a book which is all about storytelling, which I really love.
Suz Chadwick [00:25:20]:
So I'm I wanna, you know, think about how I tell stories better because I'm gonna be doing a lot more around Working with speakers, and I do teach storytelling, I'm like, I'm always interested in learning more. The other thing I wanna do, which is so random, I wanna learn to read. So so that's one of my personal goals in my 90 day sprint as well. So when you are planning out, I just want you to Think about what kind of not only fills your bank account, fills your time, but fills, like, your heart and your soul and your happiness and all the rest of it, and bring it all together. Yeah? So I'm just gonna quickly go through that again. So today, we talked about the 90 day sprint. This is gonna be on the podcast as well. I'm dropping a few little episodes this week.
Suz Chadwick [00:26:10]:
So when you do your 90 day sprint, we are focusing on October, November, December As we're about to go into that quarter right now, we go through what is my main focus for this month if we're focusing on the month. We talk about our manifestation goals. We take a look at our main goals, so what's the priority, what are the actions, and what are the beliefs that I need to take? Then we move into our marketing and lead generation. What's the priority for that? What's the goal for it? What's our lead gen strategy? What are the actions and beliefs that I need to take? We look at that with our sales goals as well. And then I also have my personal projects, which for me is speed reading and storytelling. And then I have my personal goals of enjoying the summer, spending more time with friends, getting out to a festival, whatever it might be. And that's how I work through my 90 day sprint. And so as I said, I'm gonna be going through this with some of my Amplify clients this week.
Suz Chadwick [00:27:06]:
And so we really bounce. We're like, okay. Well, if you wanna do that, here are some strategies, here are some tactics, but But also what are the beliefs, and we work through that too so that it feels really cohesive, and it feels like something that flows really, really well too. Yeah? And it Feels like something that you're connected to. I think a lot of times, goals can feel soulless, and I never want your goals to feel soulless. I never want like, when I do my 90 day sprint, when I do my planning, I'm always thinking about how do I wanna feel this year? Who do I wanna attract this year? Who do I wanna be this year? Like, how do I wanna show up? What is my, like, next level goal? And I know that feels really like a cliche thing. It's like when something gets used or overused, you're kind of like, what does that even mean? But for me, my next level goal is where am I right now, and What is it that I'm trying to work towards? What am I trying to achieve? What am I wanting to grow? Yeah? Grow professionally, grow personally, grow Spiritually, like, what does that look like for me as well? So that is what a 90 day sprint looks like. If you missed this and you wanna listen to it, it'll be on the Brand Builders Lab Podcast a little bit later either today or tomorrow as well.
Suz Chadwick [00:28:27]:
But Always remember, your goals without intentional beliefs would never come to fruition. When you set a goal and you do not work hard on the belief of creating the goal, of stepping into who you need to be in order to achieve the goal? You're missing that's that's a big part of where a lot of people are missing the opportunity. Because when you truly believe that something is yours, that you are gonna achieve it, that come hell or high water, you're gonna make it happen, Can I tell you? You're never gonna sit there and be like, I don't know what to do. Like, I'm I'm lost. Like, I don't know what to do, because you will figure out. There will be many, many ways that you can achieve that goal, and you will with grit and determination, You will decide what all those ways will be until you figure it out and you make it happen. So do not underestimate the power of your beliefs alongside Your goals. Yes? Yes.
Suz Chadwick [00:29:33]:
Yes. That is what we're talking about. So, listen, have an amazing day. If you want to know when I go live again, then make sure that you put your notifications on because I'm gonna be doing this more because I love speaking. I love sharing with you.
