Hey, hey, guys, how are you? This is my first podcast back live talking to you in 2023. And I am so excited to be sharing this with you that today I am actually going to be sharing a Instagram Live that I did. But you know something, I'm actually doing those lives with the podcast in mind. So that it is really just recording the podcast, but sharing it on Instagram. Sometimes not all the time. But I want to make sure that I am getting so much more out of the content that I'm creating, I'm going to do a whole episode on how I'm rethinking my content for 2023 as well, which I'm excited to share with you. But today I wanted to share something that I have done, I hired myself a new business coach 2023 so that I can get the support I need when I'm supporting all of my incredible, amazing, bold and fabulous clients. Because I think it's really important when you are supporting others, you have to have your own support, you absolutely have to. And so one of the things that I did is that I shared all of my business for 2023 With my new coach, and I also shared something else. And that's what I'm going to be talking to you about today on this episode. So listen, first of all, I just want to say welcome back. It is so great to have you here. Whether you've been here for a long time, or you're a new listener, I just want to say thanks. Thanks for hanging out. Thanks for being back. Thanks for always supporting me and hopefully the podcast supports you in your business so that you can grow your confidence, your courage, and everything else that you want to your revenue for your business as well. So I'm excited to dive back in. We've got lots of great episodes coming up as well. Obviously make sure that you check out if you're looking for the support that you want this year, make sure that you check out BBA board Business Academy. Yes, we did the rebrand at the end of last year, and I refilmed it all and we're still updating bits and pieces. But I'm super excited for what it is evolving into you. There's fortnightly coaching, there is so much support. And I'm here to support you to grow your business. So make sure you check that out Suzanne chadwick.com forward slash BBA, the link does not change. But listen, without further ado, let's dive into this week's episode.
So what I want to talk about today is understanding what's going on in your business and seeing your thoughts around it. Because if you don't see your thoughts, then you can actually shift and grow and move your business. Okay, so that's just what I believe. And the reason I believe it is because I do this for myself all the time. So what do I mean by that? So yesterday on Instagram, and if you're listening to the podcasts on this, I'll share the links in the show notes as well. But yesterday I was sharing that there are a number of things that I do that really helped me to move my business forward in a really different way. So for those of you who knows, know me, I come from a strategy background, I used to run a brand agency, I used to run really big sales teams. And so it was all about the numbers, it was about, you know, the number of dollars, the number of people, the number of staff the number of things and so we can be really functional in our business. And we take take a look at the numbers and what's happening. But I really want to encourage you to go a little bit deeper. And so I've just taken on a new business coach for myself at 2023. I'm gonna have to get used to saying that. And one of the things that I did is that I created a Google Doc for her. This is my new business coach. And I wrote all these things down that I'm about to share with you now. And I would really encourage you to do the same. And I'm going to explain why. Okay, so what I did for her so that she could see what was happening in my business. And what was happening in my brain at the same time is that I created a Google Doc and at the top I had one of my products and services. So I had baby a amplify one on one coaching. So I listed them out. I told him what the price was. I told her where I was with it and then I had underneath each product, not just what the product was and what the price was and where I was at with it. But then I had my thoughts around the products. And so with my thoughts, I was like, you know, this is where the products been, this is where I want it to go, this is what has worked well, this is what has not worked well. This, these are my emotions around the product. And these are the thoughts that I have on a regular basis about it. Now the reason that I shared that with her was so that she can understand why I might be in spinning drama about something or why I'm in indecision about it. And so I literally I might say to her, or I, you know, said to her as well, this is what the price is, I really want to raise it. But my concerns are this, this and this. And I know that that's a silly thing to think but that's what I think. And so by me voicing and actually writing down what my thoughts are around my pricing my products, my customers, I'm not just talking about the numbers, because I think sometimes we can get stuck in the numbers of our business. And we're actually not moving ourselves forward. And it's got nothing to do with the numbers, it's actually got to do with our thoughts around the product, that maybe our clients don't want it that it's not enough that we need to give more that maybe the price is too high, whatever it might be. So I really want you to think about when you think about your products and services, don't just take a look at the numbers, which I know, you know, it's important to look at the numbers. But I want you to write down all the things that you're thinking about that product and service, all the things that you're thinking about the pricing, all the things that you're assuming that your customers are thinking about that product and service as well. And when you start to get all of that out, you can actually see what's going on. Like you can see why you might not be moving forward in certain areas, you might be seeing why you're not promoting your product the way that you should, or that is going to make a big difference. You know, something that's really simple, is so many people have spent time building their email list, and then they don't email their subscribers. They don't make offers to people who have signed up to say, I'm actually interested in what you have. And there's so many thoughts around that that you might have. So my question to you is, do you do that? Are you like a really basic thing? Are you emailing your subscribers on a regular basis and making them offers? And if the answer is no, obviously creating value and sharing that with them as well. But if the answer is no, you've got a whole lot of thoughts around sending emails to your subscribers, that's stopping you from making sales. It's stopping you from growing your business. It's stopping you from engaging in a real way with the audience that have said to you. I'm interested in what you have. Yeah. And so it's only when we get those thoughts out on paper that we can start to see them for what they are. And I actually think it's only when you can start to see those thoughts. We talked about this a lot and correct courageously you It's only when we start to see those thoughts that we can start to shift ourselves. But it's very practical for your business. I think sometimes people think that somehow mindset and business are separate. And they're not. I actually just sent out an email. I think it was on the weekend that asked my subscribers one question, it was like my, my main focus for you is that I want to support you to build a bold brand and business and a bold mindset. And I had people that sent me emails back, which is fantastic. I got lots of great content. And lots of people shared, Mike, you know, what's one thing that they really want to do next year when it comes to having a bold brand and a bold mindset. But I got a couple of people that said, I don't understand, like the correlation. Can you explain what that means to me, which is totally fine. And I will do like a whole podcast episode on that as well. But in order to have a bold business, yeah, in order for you to stand out, in order for you to be memorable in order for people to want to work with you, where you're magnetizing your clients and they're sending you messages going, I want to work with you. How can I do that? Yeah, in order for you to do things differently, where you're not following the trends and everything else that's happening. You have to have a bold mindset that that says to you that you can do that. That yes, Sue's you can be different. Yes, let's do something totally against the grain. That's neuro not with the status quo. Let's do something that other people are not doing. And so if you want to have a bold brand that stands out, you've got to have a bold mindset that supports you to make those bold moves. Yeah, so it was really interesting that I had like I want to say, you know, five or six people that email me and said, I don't I understand how they fit together. And so when you are planning for next year, or just if you're wanting to do a general review of your business, write down all the numbers, write down all the products and services, and then write down all the thoughts you have about it. Yeah, and also write down, you could categorize the thoughts into, you know, limiting thoughts about my audience, when it comes to this product, limiting thoughts about what I'm capable of when it comes to this product, limiting thoughts when it comes to money, when it comes to this product, that's a really comprehensive way of doing your business planning and reviewing is to not only review the numbers and everything that you did, and didn't do in the year, but to review all of your thoughts, limiting beliefs and money, beliefs about that product as well, I have to say, it was a really cathartic exercise that I did for my new business coach, and it's something I'm going to be doing with my clients and getting them to take a look at a do because I think that as a coach, I think it's really important for me to be able to see my clients thoughts around their products and services, around their money around their belief in what is they're capable of, and what's possible for them as well. Because if I can help them to shift those beliefs, then the money and the numbers will follow. And I think a lot of people don't realize that. So that's something to definitely do as well. The other thing that I did, when I sent this document to my coach was where I am with money. So I sent her my profit and loss for the last year. Or for I was 2122. And also for the quarter, that's just gone. And I went through and I was like, okay, so I spent this percentage on marketing, I spent this percentage on business things like whatever it was. And just me being able to go through my numbers and understand them with her or for her was, again, a really powerful thing. So something to do is take a look at your profit and loss for the last 12 months, take a look at where you're spending your money, where your revenues coming from. And then I wrote down all my thoughts around that. Yes, so I was able to see what each of my products like how much that contributed to my total revenue. And then I also was really interesting, I'm like, I'm spending too much on paid ads, and also, like, agencies that manage the ads. But then when I looked at the percentage, I think it was 16%, which was actually a lot less than what I thought that I had been spending. So just knowing your numbers, when it comes to your financials at the end of the year, and the beginning of next year is really important, because we can make a lot of assumptions about where we're spending money and what we're doing with money. And then when we actually look at it, it might be totally different. It may not be what you thought it was going to be. But then I had a lot of thoughts around the money to like I was like, I need to increase my profit, you know, I need to reduce my expenses. And I want to do that through building more organic content. But at the end of the day, like I was actually there were there were areas in my business, I was spending money, and I didn't realize it. So really take a look at where you're spending money, what you're doing with it. And then also all of your thoughts, beliefs, assumptions around it as well, so that you can know what's working and what's not. Yeah. The other thing that I wrote for her was, what are my goals for the next six to 12 months? And what do I need support with, and writing down all of my thoughts around that, too. So that was really good. I'm like, This is my financial goal. This is what I believe I can do. This is where I think I need help. And as just being really aware of that, I think is so worthwhile. So my question to you is, you know, are you aware of not just what your goals are, but what support you need in order to achieve those goals? Do you know what you need to work on? Is there something that you know, somebody can help you like a coach or you know, even in BBA, we've got the group coaching, like getting in a container like that, where you've got regular contact with the community regular contact, and support from a coach is so worthwhile as well, just to kind of go this is what I'm struggling with, like, what are other ideas I could come up with. And also the posts that I shared yesterday is you know, coach's job is to help you see what's possible, that you may not be able to see for yourself. And so when I talk to my coach, and when my clients talk to me, a lot of times, you know, I'll either get asked questions that reveal something that I didn't realize I was thinking or something that I wasn't doing. And so being in a container like that, where you've got somebody who's asking you questions that really challenge your thinking, and that really helps you to think bigger, and break out of, you know, thinking norms that you've got is another really important thing to do. So, for me, as I'm planning 2023, I was like, I want to make sure that I've nailed, like, I've got a coach for myself in the new year. And I want to be really honest and open, I'm looking for somebody that is going to ask me hard questions. And that's going to challenge me, and who's going to challenge my thinking. And so if you are looking for a coach as well, I think it's really important for you to know the criteria of the type of coach that you're looking for to. And if you've got any questions on that, you can always send me a message and asked me, because this is something that I want to talk a lot more about. Because sometimes we can meet just feel really stuck with I know I need help, but I don't know what help I need. And I don't know who I need to help me as well. And so at least if you can understand what your criteria is for the type of person that you want supporting you, then when you go into conversations, where you're either looking for, say a team member, or you're looking for a coach, then you can say this is what I am looking for, this is the type of person I'm looking for, these are the things I struggle with, I need somebody who's got the tools and is equipped to be able to help me to do that. So really think about how you can start to match the support that you need, with the level that you're at in business, and what you want the person who's going to support you to be able to do for you as well. So for me, because I'm a business and mindset coach, I can all go through and do hypnosis or NLP or you know, a number, you know, EFT with my clients to really help them shift their mindset in certain areas. And so you've got to decide whether that's something that you want in a coach or not as well, but just starting to really take a look at the numbers. And then alongside the numbers, your thoughts, your beliefs, and what you think is possible for yourself, will really help you to reach your goals, I think so much quicker, and with a lot more transparency is the word I would say. Because I think a lot of times, we're just moving through our business, and we're kind of blind, we're blind to our own limiting beliefs. And we're blind to the things the behaviors that we have, that are not helping us to actually get to where we want to go as well. And so those are just some things that I really want you to think about, that I talked about in yesterday's Instagram post, as well. And then today, what I was sharing on Instagram as well was how I start my morning, and how my intention setting my deliberate thought creation and my intention setting, which is just part of how I wake up and how I move through my day really helps me as well, to show up with the energy just to show up in general to share these things with you. And so for me, when I wake up in the morning, and I'm about to like have my shower, and everything, I'm thinking about how I want my day to go. I'm thinking about how I want to connect with people I'm thinking about, you know, what is the, you know, what am I focusing on right now? And how can I bring more energy and intention to that. And then as I'm making my coffee, I'm thinking about, you know, it's a really interesting thing, when I make my coffee in the morning, I imagine the dream clients that I will magnetize today, that's become a daily practice for me, where I am like today, I'm just gonna get DMS from my like, favorite people. And I did get one this morning. To get this morning from one of my favorite people saying I need your help, can we book a coaching session. But when I have made my coffee in the morning, I actually am like, today I'm going to magnetize I'm going to connect with I am going to in some way, like create that feeling of my dream clients want to work with me. And they're going to connect with me and I am going to whether we work together now or in the future that's going to happen. And so just think about how you're cultivating that energy and those thoughts on a regular basis. Like pick a time in the day and just and just decide to do that on a regular on the regular. And then when I'm like having my coffee and just you know, I'm thinking about okay, what content am I going to create today? What am I going to share with you while I do a live? What is it that I really want to make sure I'm creating for you. And so just around the content for me, like the post I did yesterday and the post I did today follow on from each other. I thought let me do a live and connect with you today so that I can say hi and record the podcast at the same time. And so just through those two things that I shared on Instagram yesterday and today, I'm now creating so much more content and energy around it. And I think sometimes what we do is we create something this is where burnout around content and exhaustion around it comes from is that we're kind of just once again, throwing spaghetti at the wall a bit. And we're not thinking about how we're bringing everything that we're doing together to create this ball of energy that magnetizes and attracts the clients that we really want, because of the consistency of the message, because we're bringing more to it, because we're sharing it in more places with ease. Yeah, and, and I think that just that morning thought intention of I know how to create, like magnetic energy around what I'm doing. I know how to connect with my clients on a deeper level, I know that I will have clients sliding into my DMs or emailing me saying, I'm ready to work with you, this is what I want to do. And me fully stepping into that belief like I fully believe that that will happen. And then it does happen. Yeah, and it doesn't happen every day. But the point is, is that I expect it to happen. So my question to you is, what are you expecting to happen in your business? Or are you not expecting anything? You're like, no expectations, no disappointments? I think when I was a teenager, that was something I used to say, which is such a terrible saying, it's like no expectations, no disappointments, how,
what what a low thought bar that was. And so I have high expectations, not only of myself, and what I know I'm capable of creating, but I have high expectations that the clients that I really want to work with will come and connect with me and show up wherever it is, whether it's the podcast, whether it's in the DMS, whether it's at you know, physical events, whatever that is. And so what's your expectations of yourself? Yeah. Okay, Amelia, I'm gonna ask a tough question. But what do you think a coach gets out of working with a client? Oh, my gosh, Amelia, I learn so much in working with my clients. Yeah, because it's like, everybody thinks differently. Everybody has different ways of creating what it is that they do and how they do it. And as a coach, I just feel so enriched when I work with clients, and I understand where they're coming from. And then together, we work on how they can break through that, how they can achieve those goals, how they can create what it is that they want. And when you can work with a client and see them kind of start here. And then a year later, six months later, whatever it is, they're like, yeah, and they're actually doing the things that they want, that is the most rewarding thing. And that's why a lot of times, there are a lot of coaches that are under charge, because they love what they do so much that they're like I would do this for free. But as a coach, that's something that I get out of working with my clients. So I hope that that answers your question, Amelia, let me know. But that's, that's why we do what we do is that we want to support our clients to go from where they are now to where they want to be. And that goes back to my post yesterday, which is, we're really here to help our clients see what's possible for themselves when they don't see it. And I think that that's the kind of coach that you want as well, somebody who believes in what they're not able to see yet for you. So if you come and you're like Suze, I know like i i believe that I can be successful, there is just behaviors and thoughts that I have, that are stopping me from taking action. And then through that discovery, we'll figure out the best way to help you shift those, so that you can create the kind of business life outcomes, whatever it is that you want. You know, like I said, I've worked with a life coach, I've worked with a health coach. I've worked with business coaches. And so because I couldn't, I knew it was possible for me, but I didn't know how to get there myself. And so in the last 12 months, and I'll be 100% honest here, and I will do a podcast on this at some point. But I have struggled with my weight for a lot of my life. And I've kind of done the roller coaster and all the rest of it where you know, I did whatever diets and last and then put on in the loss. And so this year, I just thought I know that it's possible for me to not be in this cycle. I know that it's possible for me to learn how I can eat for my body and feel amazing and create the kind of life that I want to have where I can enjoy what I want, but also, like be at a healthy weight for myself. And so I hired the coach, because I knew that it was possible for me and I just didn't know how to get there. And that's the perfect example of what a coach does. As for you, as well. So just really think about that, what do you believe is possible for yourself, but right now you don't know how and you don't know how you're going to get yourself there, how what the strategy is to get there, what's, what's the practical tactics and actions to get there. And then what is the thinking to get there as well. And you've got a couple of those together, the more that you can cobble together understanding that, you need the strategy. And the and the thinking is so important. One of my clients, Becky, she always talks about the woman the do. And I just think that's the perfect thing that we need to understand is that you've got to be able to bring those two together, which is why I took brand builders Academy to the bold Business Academy, like I changed the branding of it. Because whilst I talk about mindset, I've always talked about mindset in VBA, I'm like, I want to talk about that so much more. And so VBA is going to be the Wuhan the do basically, it's going to be the strategy of how you build your brand, how you create your marketing strategy, how you sell. And then also all the mindset stuff about how you learn to show up and be bold in your business, have the bold business mindset as well. And so that's been an evolution in my business. That's been an evolution in me as far as becoming a certified mindset coach as well. But really think about what it is that you're doing, because it's kind of like, just keep chipping away at something, but you're not moving forward. And I think that sometimes, that is what happens. And this is such a random story. When I was I want to say 90, I went to Airlie Beach, and I don't think it was It wasn't as fancy as what it is these days. But Airlie Beach was where the backpackers and Schoolies went at the end of their final year of high school. And I went and there was this pub, and it was like, what was it called to be a bungee. And so basically, they would tie you into a bungee rope. This is such such a random story, they would tie you into a bungee rope, and you had to run along what was like, think of like a bowling lane. Yeah, and there was a beer at the end. And you would run, run, run, run, run, run, run, and then the bungee cord would yank you back. And you had to try and get the bear. So hilarious. And I feel like that's what business conveys sometimes is that you're running after your goal. You're like, pulling, you're pulling, and you're trying to get to your goal, which is the beer at the end of the bungee rope, run. And your mindset is the bungee rope that keeps pulling you back. And you're like, why can I get there like I'm doing all the things I'm running so hard. I'm in burnouts seems like I'm working, working working. And, and then all of a sudden, you're pulled back and you can't figure out why you're pulled back. And the reason that you're pulled back, is because your mindset is not where it needs to be. And that will always pull you back. And that will always keep you from reaching, like your actual big goals that you really want. Otherwise, it'll just take you longer, and it'll just feel so much harder as well. Yeah. So I think that's so important. So Liz says, love what you said about a coach believing what's possible for your clients before you think it definitely how I feel about my clients. Yeah, absolutely. And so you know, that's what I want. I want a coach who's going to hold space for me, where they're going to push me and help me to break through things that are that I think and believe right now, where they kind of call me out or they're like, why are you believing that I'm I don't know, this is what I believe they're like, well, we need to shift and get rid of that belief and change that belief. And then I'm like, That's so true. And then we shift and we change the belief. And now it's one less thing that's holding me back from creating whatever it is that I want. We have got so many stories that we tell ourselves on the daily that constantly hold us back and you've got to remember that your subconscious mind was created up like from the age of seven. So you develop your subconscious mind from zero to seven and that you carry around that with like that with you now in your adult life. And so so many people walk around with all of these stories and beliefs that they got from their parents or from their life or how they were brought up or people around them what they were told over and over again, and it's just not true. So it's time to break that When it's time to start understanding what we can do to change it, it's time to start getting the support that we need to make the shifts happen. And to create what it is that we want. And to understand that mindset, if we don't work on it is that bungee cord that keeps pulling us back again and again and again.
And it's not fun. It's not like the Airlie Beach Bunji Bunji beer run, this one's not fun, it's actually holding you back from creating what you want. So go and check out yesterday's Instagram post, which is on all the questions you can ask yourself. And if you're listening to the podcast, we'll have it in the show notes. And then today's post is on intention setting every morning, people think that you've got to carve out all this additional time to do it and you don't you just embedded in how you get up in the morning and the things that you do, or any point in your day and how you want your day to be. So when I wake up, I have it when I'm in the shower. I have my intentional thoughts as I'm making my coffee. I have my intentional thoughts. And so I've kind of had 10 minutes 15 minutes of creating powerful intentional thoughts and energy that helped me to show up here for you and show up in my day and show up for my clients in the way that I want to which is in a powerful and connected way. And that's even before I've sat down on my desk so you got this you can totally do this. Yeah, so let me know if you've got any questions, any comments anything you want to share? Just send it to me as soon as Chadwick on Instagram DM me, you know, I love that. But otherwise, I'll see you next week.
