I've been banging on about confidently bold branding for years now, and there's never been a more important time to have this conversation. The market feels crowded, everyone's doing the same thing, and if you're not willing to step into what makes you authentically YOU, you're going to get lost in all the noise.
Here's the thing – I was chatting to my clients recently and really challenging them: Are we actually showing up authentically? Are we saying the things we want to say? Are we creating from courage, or are we just copying what everyone else is doing?
Because here's what I see happening all the time: You're watching everyone around you thinking “if they're doing that, I'll do that too.” But that's not how you build a brand that stands out.
You need to ask yourself: What do I really want to create? What would feel amazing for me to build?
This morning I was dancing to Olivia Dean on my Instagram stories. My 13-year-old would call it “so cringe.” But you know what? Cringe and embarrassment are the price we pay for showing up and connecting with the people we actually want to connect with.
My challenge for you: What are you not showing that is actually really you?
Think about who you are when you're with your friends, when you're in your element, when you're just bloody happy. For me, it's when I'm on stage speaking, coaching clients, or running masterclasses. That's where I'm in flow.
Where are you when you're in your place of joy? Because THAT'S the energy your brand needs.
When I think about personal brands I love following, yes, they talk business, but they also show me when they're crying, when things aren't going well, when they're dealing with difficult situations. It's not just the shiny, perfect stuff.
That's why I post stories when I'm dyeing my hair or in my pyjamas. I want you to see all different aspects of me. And you need to bring all parts of YOU into your brand and business.
Because brand is the emotional connection we have with our audience. It's what keeps people coming back.
Look, you can learn all the content strategies and Instagram tactics you want. But if you're doing that without actually being YOU, it's pointless. You're just creating from a place of “this is what I think I'm supposed to put out there.”
Instead, sit down and write:
I love pickleball, lychee martinis, dancing to Olivia Dean, and having deep conversations about manifestation. You get to bring ALL of you into your brand.
One of my clients said to me: “If I say that, people will either have a go at me or disagree with me.”
So what? It doesn't matter about the people who disagree with you, because that's not who you're there for. You're there for the people who NEED to hear what you've got to say.
We spend so much time worrying about the people who won't agree instead of thinking about the people who desperately need to hear our message.
The only way you get confident is by taking courageous action. Courage is a muscle – the more courageous you become, the more things you'll do.
My favourite client testimonials aren't about financial wins (though they're great too). They're when clients say: “Two weeks ago I wouldn't have had the balls to do this” or “I'm now so confident to go after what I want.”

You can only do this when you show up as yourself. That's the truth. You can only build a brand that truly connects when you're being yourself.
So my question is: Are you being yourself, or are you hiding behind strategies that make you feel busy but aren't actually magnetising the clients you want?
