In today's episode, I dive into how we become more confident, bold & profitable in our businesses.
What does it take? I asked my Instagram community what they thought and I share some questions that I get on a regular basis.
The truth is that confidence is built in small steps towards the things we want. We look around at people and assume they're so confident but in reality, we're all just working it out as we go. We're all building confidence in the next thing we're going to do – so just know that you're not alone.
I talk a lot about building your confidence in Brand Builder's Academy and The Amplify Accelerator so if you're looking for support then make sure you come join us for a deeper dive and to get the support you need.
Hey there, my lovely ones, I hope that you are doing well. It's so great to have you back here. On the podcast for another week, we are screeching towards the end of the year, can't believe we've only got a few more weeks to go. And then we're done with 2021. I have high hopes, I have high hopes for 2022. I'm just say, I've got a Bali retreat, I've got another retreat that was supposed to be in 2021, that's been moved to February 2022. We've got our BBA launch happening in February, as well, just after school goes back.
So many things continues on. So if you want to check that out, make sure that you head over to the website, and join 2022 could be the year that you're in my mastermind and accelerator so that you can start to build your assets, your personal brand, your course your program, so that you can start to scale your thought leadership and have more impact in the world. So there's a lots of things I'm speaking at events as well.
Yay for events being back. I am playing with the idea of running a conference just saying. So we'll see what happens with that. But yeah, I've got high hopes for 2022. What are your hopes for 2022? Send me a DM answers Chadwick and say Soos my hopes for 2022 are and let me know, I would love to hear what your hopes are for the next for the next year.
But I really wanted to talk today about confident, bold and profitable. Those are three things that when it comes to my business, these three things I want to experience on a daily, if not weekly basis, I want to feel confident, I want to know that I'm being bold. And I want to know that my business is highly profitable, that the work that I'm doing is earning me the money that I want.
But then I'm also having the impact that I want as well. And so what are your three words? What are three words that kind of describe how you want to be in your business, how you want to feel how you want to act, what you want to come out of your business? You know, I think that that's something that I have worked so hard on as well. And I'm not gonna lie, I have always been a pretty confident person. I've been a speaker for the majority of my life since I was 16. in an official capacity, I'm sure I was talking everybody's ear off well before then.
But I am conscious that when it comes to new things, I have to become confident in them. So when I'm building something new in my business, when I'm teaching something new, when I'm creating something new when I'm doing something new, I have to think through what does it look like for me to become confident in this?
Yeah, and I love that my girl Erica, the queen of confidence talks about the fact that the journey to confidence, can feel like you know, you're walking through a jungle and poo is being thrown at you. But you know, at the end, you kind of show up and you're like Tada, I'm here. That's what people say. And so I loved the fact I put a story question on Instagram, and I asked my beautiful followers, what they thought it took to become competent in business. So my question was, I'm going to be recording a podcast, what do you think it takes to become confident in business? And these were some of the answers that I got Chrissy goddess Chrissy from chaos to calm said self belief.
I didn't ask if I could read names out so I was like so I'm just going to give you some of the some of the answers that I got. Self belief was one money with laughing emojis next to them money helps you be confident in your business experience skills and a sense of mastery.
Experience skills and a sense of mastery systems and processes a great supportive network. Another one was Because to believe in what we are selling and doing, which I totally agree with as well. Another one was support practice and good habits. We also had repetition, don't post once, don't do one sales call, don't create one offer, repeat and improve. Lovely Marian said backing yourself, aka self belief. So that was similar to what Christie said as well. And I did have somebody else that sent me a message saying, no idea what it takes. So thank you to those that responded, I appreciate it. And I think it's really interesting because I think it can be different for different people.
But what I want to talk about is, what does it look like for you? What does it look like for you to feel these things? Like if you want to be more confident in your business, if you want to be more confident in the things that you do, in how you show up? I do think that you've really got to lean into and think about and have it as an anchor, why you're doing what you're doing. And I know we talked about why so much. But for me, I love being in a group of normally women, where I'm talking about confidence, I'm talking about mindset, and I'm talking about being bold, and I can see their desire on their faces, I can see that they want this for themselves says how do I speak without notes? How do I become more confident in how I deliver it? How do I show up?Even when I'm not 100%? sure exactly what I want this to be? Those are the questions that I get.
And so that's more about what I want to talk about today is how do we find the confidence? When we don't have it all figured out? Isn't that I think that that is a pretty great place to start. How do we find the confidence when we don't have it all figured out? Because FYI, we're all figuring it out. And why are we all figuring it out, because we may have figured out how to get to where we are now. And we can teach somebody else how to get to where we are now. But now that we're moving forward in our journey, that's uncharted territory.
So when they say everybody's figuring it out, we're all figuring out how we continue to move forward, how we continue to grow, how we continue to learn and evolve from where we are now. And so really becoming somebody who understands that that's the process and understands that, that's what it takes to become confident is to embrace the mess, embrace the messy middle of figuring it out. And really continuing to anchor in to why you're doing what you're doing and what it is that really drives you and what that desire is as well.
So for me, I want to have more women that go through BBA and then amplify who learn how to run a business really well, who understand how to have those professional practices, so that they can become more confident in how they're running their business, how they're showing up, what they're doing, how they're pricing, how they're increasing their prices, how they continue to build on what it is that they've got now, and taking those uncomfortable steps to kind of go, you know, something, this is better than it was a year ago, this is better than it was six months ago, I am doing so much more, I'm giving so much more.
It's such an incredible experience, going to raise my prices. And just having that internal dialogue with yourself to feel confident in making those decisions. When it comes to showing up when it comes to doing the things that you might feel uncomfortable about. There's two things I want to say here. Number one, you've got to decide this is actually aligned with who I am and what I want to be doing, which Becky and I talked about in a recent podcast.
And then I talked about it when I talked about aligning, you know my values and the content that I was creating. But secondly, if it is just a fear and you do want to do it, then it's asking yourself, what is the simple next step that I could take right now, that could help me to start to build this confidence. So for example, let's say you wanted to do an Instagram Live and you're like I'm terrified.
Well, what about if you did it with somebody else? What about if you've got two other friends? Or one other friend that you did it with? And you're like, if you've done it before, can you start it? And then can you bring me in? And can you kind of lead it just so that I can get a feel for it and start doing it? Could that be the simple next thing that you do? What else? Do you want to get confident? Is that speaking? Is that charging more? Is it building a new product or service? And so somebody asked me on Instagram, I'm going to be doing regular posts now, where it's basically asked me a question, and I'm gonna coach and answer your question in the comments as well. So somebody said, I have all of these ideas, and I really want to make it all happen. But I just don't take action. And so I said to her, one of the reasons why we don't take action is because sometimes we overwhelm ourselves with all the things we want to do. And we're like, okay, I want to launch a program. And so now I feel totally overwhelmed with all of the things that I have to do and how I'm going to make that happen.
So if we go back to what is the simple first step that I could take, the first step I could take is that I could decide what's the name of my program? And what's the transformation it's going to provide to my clients? And then once I've decided on that, then I'm going to break down and I'm going to design my program. So what does it look like? What are all of the different elements to it? What are they going to learn in it? What are the tools and workshops and the worksheets and the resources I'm going to give them to help them achieve that particular thing? At that particular time? Yeah, and so you build step by step. But so often, we look at things in such a big way. Like, I want to earn a million dollars, I love it. When I say to clients, how much do you want to end like a million dollars? And like, how much are you adding? Now? They're like, 30k. Hey, I am over dreaming big. But we have these massive goals. And we don't really take a look at, well, what about if I'm on 30k? And I want to get to 50k? Or I want to get to 80k? Yeah, how about that. And then I make myself a three year or, you know, a five year plan where I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna double triple my profit, my revenue over the next few years, what am I going to do? Do I have the products and services to be able to achieve that goal. And so, confidence really comes from making the small decisions to take the small steps that lead to big outcomes, or that lead to bigger goal achievement. And I also think that when it comes to goals, we're so focused on the outcome of the goal, like, did I achieve the goal? That a lot of times we don't think about? What happened in the process? What did I learn in the process. And so I've experienced that I joined a program, I did fine in it, I didn't achieve what I thought that I was going to achieve as far as my goal went, but I learned so much in the process. I learned so much about myself, I learnt so much about other people. I had somebody that challenged my thinking.
And so sometimes we have these goals that we're working towards, and we're so fixated on the end product and the goal, that we don't actually sit back and look at, what did I learn in this process? What did I learn about myself? What did I learn about how to do this? Maybe it works for me, maybe it doesn't? How can I tweak and change it so that it does? How do I take and this is such a big one? How do I take full responsibility for the outcomes that I have in my life in business? How do I not rely on other people? Yes, somebody can guide me, somebody can coach me, somebody can support me, but how do I take full responsibility for what it is that I'm doing? And I think that that is such an important thing that so many people don't look at, they don't realize they don't spend time really assessing whether they're taking responsibility for the outcomes that they're having. And I think that that gives you a lot of confidence to when you're relying on somebody else to deliver something for you when you're relying on somebody else to help you have a specific outcome or do a certain thing, like I said they can support coach guide.
But when you're relying on somebody for an outcome, I think that's a dangerous place to be. I think you've got to look at what am I doing to create the outcome that I want? How am I utilizing the resources that are available to me? And I think that when you start to work from a place of full responsibility for your own hours, comes. Massive confidence is built in that moment, huge confidence is built in that moment.
And so many people don't realize that it's only through the doing that confidence is built. It's only through the doing that that self belief is built, because you just did that small step, you took that small action, and it worked. It paid off, you did it, you didn't die when you took that small step to do something that's been scary. And so now, what happens is that if we're looking at it, you know, a little thermometer, then your little red amount of liquid in your thermometer starts to rise. Yeah, because you did that one thing. And so now it's gone up a degree. Oh, I feel like I feel that self belief, I can do that.
Okay, so what's the next small step that I can take, that's going to help that go up just another little centimeter as well. And so, tracking that, looking at that, looking at where you started, and where you are now, and how much more confident you feel, and I think, recognizing our growth and confidence is another thing that we don't do? Well, like, I wish I was more confident, but you know, something, you actually started at A and now you're at j. So you're doing super well, how about you stop and you say, you know, something, I've really overcome a lot like I've really achieved a lot. And we're so often on that hamster wheel, chasing that goal, that we haven't actually acknowledged the fact that we're building our self confidence.
We're building that knowledge, we're building the actions, we're building of this new way of being and working. We're recognizing the bold decisions that we're making we we asked for that thing that six months ago, we never would have asked for, we've made that big decision that six months ago, we never would have made it would have been too scary for us to make that. And I think that we really don't spend time acknowledging those steps that that we're taking, and those you know those achievements.
And so if you want to become more confident in what it is that you're doing, acknowledge everything, all of the things the smallest thing, the biggest thing that you've done, that is different to how you've operated in the past. Recognize that you're, every day, you're doing something that millions and billions of people are not doing. So you're already stepping into your confidence, just by being you just by being in your business, just by doing the things that you do every day, by daring, by daring to run your business you are in your confidence. Acknowledge that recognize it, appreciate it. Ask yourself what those small steps are that you can move forward with.
And then acknowledge the step that you just took, see the growth that you've had, and you know, something, see the growth in other people and acknowledge it in them as well. I say the decision you've made, I see the growth you've had. And I acknowledge you and I am like so happy for you. And I think that this is such an exciting time. So I am actually going to say to you pause this podcast right now. Go on to it, pause it. Actually Hang on, wait till I tell you what to do first. I want you to send a message a text or voice message or DM to somebody who is in your life who you acknowledge has done something that has been hard that you've seen their growth, you've seen a hard decision that they've made, you seen them get through something, and you've seen them grow their confidence. And I want you to send a message and I want you to tell them that you see them even feel emotional telling you to do that. But I just think we have to support one another. And I think that when you do work in business and you're on your own, it's so easy for us to get caught up in our own heads around what we're not doing and what we haven't achieved and what we're not good at and why we're not confident.
And I really just want to encourage you to take a moment to send somebody a message and say I see you and I applaud you and you are awesome and you are doing so well. And I just want you to know that. Like imagine if like Three people sent you that message, how would that make you feel? Be that person be that person that supports others be that person that acknowledges others, and how they are moving through life in difficult circumstances. And so that's really what I want to share with you when it comes to building that confidence in yourself and in your business, building that self belief, I think that that is such an important thing for us to really acknowledge. And I do think that really leaning into you know, what we have, and how we make it better.
I've been talking so much more about bringing your best work to life like loving hard on what you do, loving hard on what you're here to do on your clients, on your message on the impact that you want to make in the world. And, you know, I am all about scalable impact. How do you reach more people with what you do in a way that doesn't burn you out? But has the impact that you want to have? How do you do that? And so that's we talk about a lot about that in amplify for sure. And I just really want you to think about what does that look like for you? How can you be bolder in the decisions that you make? And can I just tell you, one of the simplest ways for you to be bolder, which is about going against the grain, breaking the mold, doing things that you haven't done before, is just to ask yourself the question, How can I be bolder with this? If I was thinking bigger? If I was going bolder? What would this look like? Just that one question, I think sometimes people will like, it's so hard to like, you know, be bold, or think bigger?
I'm like it's not, you've just got to ask yourself the question, what would this look like? If it was like more amazing? If it was something totally different to what other people are doing? How would this look? Yeah. And so really think about that. If you want to be bolder in your business, then do that. And you know that I love looking at other businesses I love. There's a program here in Australia called the growing, I think it's called grow. And now it used to be maybe the grew and project. And it's a bunch of advertisers and marketers and branding people. So it's totally my jam. And it's on TV during the week. And they look at what people are doing. And I love the fact that they were saying, Tesla is worth more than all of the luxury car brands in the world. So Volvo, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, all the rest of it, if you put all of those cars, company values together, Tesla is worth more than all of them. Because they've like come out with the electric car and Elon Musk, and his personal brand carries a lot of weight as well. And Tesla doesn't they don't believe in advertising. You know, Elon Musk has got 64 million followers on Twitter. And he doesn't believe in spending money on advertising. You know, the product speaks for itself. He's such an innovator and such a thought leader, that the car sells itself as well, because people want to associate themselves they see themselves in that brand. They see their desire and how they want to be perceived by others, when they buy that. And I just find that fascinating. And so, you know, I've said it before looking at other brands, looking at what other people are doing outside of your industry, is such an place of inspiration is such a place of like, that's amazing that people do that, how can I do that more.
And so that is how you can become bold as well and then profitable? Well, you know, you've got to, you've got to have products that you love, you've got to talk about them a lot. You've got to really show the value, and what the transformation is for somebody that buys that product or works with you. And I think sometimes we think that there's a secret to this. But making revenue in your business is about you stepping up, connecting with more people sharing with them what it is that you do, building the community, making the offer, making things that are attractive, and priced well, so that people don't think that they potentially rubbish because they're so cheap.
This is a big thing I see a lot where I see incredible people who sell things really cheap and I'm like, I don't think I'd buy that because obviously it can't be very good if it's $200 and so It depends on what it is, obviously. But I think that that's the other thing, we think that things are a lot harder than what they are. And really, there are some key core steps that you can be taking to make your business, more revenue. And then when we look at profitability, it's about how much money are you able to make in profit out of what it is that you're doing. And so just being savvy around your money, and we've had such great and we're gonna have, we're gonna do a best of replay over the holidays. And we've got some finance ones in there. But just really learning to love your finance, learning to love what you're doing, learning to look at the numbers on a daily, weekly basis, really understand what's happening, so that you can shift and move things is so important as well. Yeah, loving, sending invoices out loving, getting paid, having mantras, and, you know, affirmations, money flows freely in and out of my bank account. People desire what I have, I am bringing my best work to life. And I want to give all I have, obviously, with boundaries. All I have to the clients that I'm working with, and I want this to be an incredible experience, like when you put that kind of energy, love intention into your business, when you put that kind of energy, love intention into your products and services. When you put that kind of energy, love intention into your clients, money will come.
So my question is, are you putting that energy, love and intention into everything that you're doing? And even if it's one small thing that you've got that energy, love and intention will carry your business far, showing up and connecting, building your community, building relationships, serving over delivering, when you're really at the beginning, and anytime in your business as well. Really think about how you are in your business? What sort of energy and intention Are you bringing to your business? Are you excited about your business? Or does it feel draining? And then the question is, how do you reinvigorate that feeling that energy, that excitement that love that intention? How do you do that, and I love that. I had so many of my clients and testimonials for the last round of brandbuilders Academy, where they were like I have I lost my way, I lost my energy, I lost my mojo. And I feel I've not felt this excited about my business in so long. And that is what my intention is, I want you to love your business heart, I want it to be profitable, I want you to be a total boss, I want you to know what you're doing. But I want you to have an impact as well. And so when you can do that, when you can work towards that, you will have confidence, you will be bold, and you will be profitable. I totally believe that. And I totally believe that it is possible for you. And I know that if you want this, and you do the work and you don't expect it to happen in the next 30 days. But you're in it for the long haul. Then it will happen. Yeah, it ain't Sunday, but we're breaching I just felt like I really wanted to talk about this. I really wanted to kind of end the year on this note as well.
And just you know, I talk about the things that I know so many of my clients have talked to me about in the past people who follow me on Instagram, send me messages, have comments, Suze, how do I how do I become more confident? How do I step up and make this work? How do I do this? And I just want you to know that I am totally here for it. This is I like a live for it. I leave for helping you be more confident, bold and profitable. Yeah. So if you need me, you know where to find me.
And I hope that this episode has given you some food for thought. I hope that it's helped you to realize how incredible and amazing you are right in this moment now. And that I really want you to focus on all of the things that you have done that are incredible. All the things that you have overcome that you have achieved in the last year or two. You are amazing. We are amazing. We have gotten through so much and I really want you to see and acknowledge and say I acknowledge how incredible resilient, driven, responsible capable. I am. I have been and I will be. So I am sending you big love. Have an amazing week and I'll speak to you soon.
