You're posting every day. Reels, carousels, captions, the lot. And by tomorrow it's buried and you're back at the start making more from scratch. A content repurposing system fixes that, and it takes one recording a week to run.
I've been creating long form content for 10 years. It has been one of the biggest drivers in my business and we've done millions of dollars off the back of it, with a very clear strategy of what we're doing, why we're doing it, and how it's working.
So let me show you what a single 10 minute video can actually become.
You can create content every single day. But if there's no system behind it, it stays disposable. You're putting it out there, crossing your fingers, and seeing what happens.
If it isn't measurable, you don't know what's working. You don't know what's driving the actions you want your audience to take. And I hate to say it, but you're probably wasting your time.
You know if this is you. You can feel it. Consistent, exhausted, and none of it compounding into anything profitable.
The fix is one asset that works harder for you. The only question is what format that asset takes.
I started The Brand Builders Lab podcast in 2017. We were renovating our house, I was on a building site, and video was not happening. But I can talk underwater. I'm a speaker. I find it easy to riff on a topic. So audio was the thing I could actually sustain.
At the beginning I wasn't looking at metrics. I had no strategy. I just knew I could send something fresh to my subscribers every week.
The podcast has now passed 500,000 downloads. And I'd get messages constantly saying “I'm on a long car drive, I've listened to four episodes, how do I work with you?” That content wasn't disposable. It still isn't. We're at 450 odd episodes and people can go back and get my vibe, understand what I believe, and decide whether I'm right for them.
When I compared the Instagram grind to long form, long form won by a mile. We tracked it. 30 to 40% of clients were coming from the podcast. People might find me on Instagram or through Google, but the podcast is where they'd binge and then take the next step.
So go with your flow. If you love to write, Substack is exploding right now. But I do think video is the smart play in 2026. The tech is cheap and good. I record on my DJI Osmo with a little microphone, then Descript does the heavy AI editing. When I first started I had a DSLR and the files took forever to transfer and edit. It was cumbersome, so I didn't do it.
If you're thinking “Suz, that sounds hard”, forget the format for a second and look at the opportunity. If one piece of content could get you the clients you actually want, why wouldn't you?
Ten minutes is a guide, not a rule. Seven minutes, 17 minutes, 27 minutes. Anything over seven minutes is long form as far as I'm concerned. Here's my exact process.
I record on the DJI Osmo. That goes into Descript for AI editing, then I download the audio, the video and the transcript. The transcript goes into Claude with my repurposing skill, which gives me:
The YouTube description, plus a search for the best titles and what the thumbnail should say. The podcast show notes. The SEO blog post for my website. The Substack version. The weekly newsletter. Carousels, captions and reel scripts.
Most of that happens at the click of a button. Populating the platforms takes about an hour. If you've got a VA, they do it for you.
Descript also creates the clips. I download those and schedule them across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn in one go through Metricool, tweaking per channel where I want to. Metricool also has an evergreen option, so anything that performs well can auto repost on the first Monday of the month, or every two months. Not disposable.
Total time? Around two hours a week. As a business owner in 2026, can you afford two hours a week for that kind of cumulative effect? That's a no brainer for me.
[How to use AI in your business Workshop]
You've got a domino effect running from one recording. It can be found through AI. Through Google. It goes to your subscribers. It goes across platforms. Your clips and carousels drive people back to your website, your blog, your YouTube, your podcast.
On my blog page, the embedded podcast player, the embedded YouTube video and the SEO blog all sit together with a call to action and freebies underneath. Read, listen or watch. It's all in one place.
Here's my proof. Almost every January when I get back from holidays, I have a run of new discovery calls and enquiries. Why? Because over the break people binged the podcast or found me on YouTube, and now they're ready to talk. I wasn't working when that was working for me.
It's also searchable. If someone types “how to become more confident on camera” into a podcast app, my episodes can show up. That's not just reaching people who know me. That's reaching people looking for the answer I've got.
And this is the hill I'm willing to die on. If you don't have long form content in your business, I don't know what you're doing. You're playing the disposable content game.
This is what I mean when I say build a brand that sells for you. Long form is the part of your brand that shares who you are, what you believe and how you help. And it does the selling while you're not around.
You don't have to live on the hamster wheel of content that vanishes in 24 hours. Pick one format you love, one you're in flow with, and hit record once a week. You'll get better at it as you go.
If you're ready to build a brand that gets you found and sells for you when you're not around, that's exactly what we do inside Amplify, the accelerator for experienced business owners who are done playing small and want to build a personal brand ecosystem and a sales system that runs without them.
