Let's talk about

Do you ever sit there wondering what to write about?

*cue crickets……..*

One way to ensure that you never find yourself literally lost for words is to spend some time developing a content strategy.   Trust me, it a lot less work than it seems.

In todays power play video, I'm talking about 3 simple steps to help you create content in whatever business you're in.

1// Know your Audience, their problems and your answers to those problems

In any business or if you're a blogger or writer, understanding who you are specifically targeting and/or speaking to, will help you be clear on your message.  The quickest way to turn a reader off is if you're random in your approach and don't really have anything of value to talk about.  Creating tailored content that addresses questions or problems, gives your readers something to keep coming back for.   I personally write a list of all the questions that I get from clients,  questions I seen in groups that I'm apart of and general business questions that I know will be of value to my audience.  Like this post, which was a question I received, addressing and solving problems is what you're in business to do.  Whether you're a service or product company you are in business to solve a problem so make sure you know what problem that is.

2// Tailor your Content for the platform you're communicating on

If you use social media as part of your content and communication channel strategy then you may already know that tailoring your content to suit your communication platform is key.  There is no point writing huge blog posts of content on your Facebook page and obviously it wouldn't fit on Twitter with only 140 characters.  Instagram is also a great communication tool if you're into your images but making them beautiful and interesting is the key.

As you build out your social media content and communication strategy then list the key topics you want to communicate.   Creating a daily focus such as Monday is marketing, Tuesday is inspiration, Wednesday is cool tools, Thursday is what's news and Friday is wind down day can help you create interested and varied content for your audience.

3// Engage with your audience and position yourself as an expert in your field.

There is no point putting all of that time and effort into posting content and writing blogs etc if you don't actually engage with your audience.  It's only through engagement that you'll be able to delve deeper into what else you can be building for your clients.  Remember that engagement is where the business will come from.  Write, listen, respond and interact.  That is the key to ongoing builds building and development.
