Let's talk about

You know when everything just seems to be going wrong, the stress levels are building up and you’re about to pop? We all go through these times in our business – but how we handle it can make all the difference. Today I’m sharing some 3 key things that I do when everything’s about to hit the fan

So the last month of business has been great but super challenging. My Wifi was out for a month during the launch of my new course, I was having tech issues with my new platform, there were a few hiccups with the course tech, my website was deleted and off line for 2 days and that’s just to name a few of things that happened.
Fun right?

Well as I sat at my desk trying to figure out why all of these things were happening at once I also started to think about how I could handle it all.

The natural reaction is go nuts. There could have been scream and shouting, there could have been tears, there could have been blaming – all very natural and normal reactions when you’ve put so much work into something and it all feels like it’s not working!

So here are 3 key things that I do when these things become my reality.

Give myself a reality check.

Am I dead? Am I dying? Is my family okay? Is my business still running? Have I lost any clients over what’s happening?
The answer to all these questions is no.
Am I frustrated and annoyed – absolutely. Just bringing myself back into the zone of what’s important and the fact that even though it’s not great nothing REALLY bad has happened.

Can I work around the problem?

This is a huge one. Is there a temporary solution?
For the Wi-Fi – I went and got a dongle – yeah it cost a lot but it was a solution and meant that I could still do the things I needed to go.
With the tech issues – was there a solution – yes, I dropped one of the weeks content into the private Facebook group so that everyone could still get the videos and downloads and I explain what was happening and kept everyone up to date.
When my website went down – could it be fixed – absolutely because I have a backup every day so it’s there, it just needs to be recovered.

Being solutions focused is one of your biggest resources and assets when things go wrong. Knowing that there is a solution – there is something that you could do in this moment that could fix your issue. Knowing that you have options and thinking through those options instead of going into meltdown – because at the end of the day meltdown doesn’t help anyone really (does it!)

Create Space

When my website went down, I got onto tech support grabbed a cup of coffee and went for a walk around the block. When the Wifi went, I went and worked at a co working space for the day because I had loads to do and didn’t want to be worried about it. Putting yourself in a physical space where you can reset the mental stress button, feel more at ease and do the things you need to is a big tip for ensuring you don’t lose your load and stew in your problems and the stress of it all.

So next time you don’t have wifi, your website goes down, you can’t get into your content or course and generally life feels a bit sucky then remember these three tips. They could make all the difference to the outcomes of your day to day work and life and make things a little bit more bearable!
